Danged ole cat we’ve had for 16, 17 years has decided to dominate my life for a couple days probly. We knew she was going but carried on with business as normal. We’re between sold a house, found a house, closing on a house. Meantime I’m at the campground trailer and wife is with the kids in Florida. And this danged cat is dying on me. She’s one of a pair of sisters born by a gutterslut mommy near as we can figger 16 yrs or so ago. Sister died a couple years back. Super animal. All I can say.
Can’t but sleep and rise to fatigue then down again to sleep. So we’ve shared kindnesses to one another today. There were times she could see me and react. For a non human long term cats are most impressive. She does not know she is the inferior species. To her all is equal. And in many ways she’s right. Zoe will be the unforgettable. She must have been the odd fit in mom’s womb. She could sleep in any position for as long as we have had her. Sitting while leaned back. Face hanging off the sofa arm rest. Laying with her butt straight up a lounger with head being low point. Chasing a stick across frozen snow. Staring down a red fox while daring it to come closer. Chasing a coon up a tree so far she regretted it.
How do these damned animals do this to humans? A veterinarian in a church we belonged to in Alabama addressed the question of whether or not God had a special place for servant animals for man. His thought was that any animal created by God could share in Gods glory AS HIS OPINION. That by giving us pleasure and companionship they might be given a place in eternity. Again HIS opinion. His statement was that “this was not addressed” but it is an entirely possible occurrence.
But tonight it’s jest me and old Zoe. And tonight we’re drinkin buddies.

I'm glad she's been a great cat, give her lots of love as long as you can.

I don't think there's a right time to lose anything. Well except for a load of Democrats, they can go sooner than later. My wife's cat was her one thing she adored, I hated that cat most of the time, damn thing would cock block me constantly. He would steal all my socks out of the draws and generally be a douche. Right before Thanksgiving last year the kids came home from college. One of their boyfriends came down the driveway late at night and apparently ran over the cat. My wife got ready for work and wondered where the cat was because it usually came in around 5am and stood outside the shower while she took a shower.I said it was a creepy ass cat, When she drove out the driveway headed to work she found it laying in the driveway. She called me crying and bawling. I walked up the driveway and got the cat. Brought it back home and put it in a wooden box and buried it behind the house near the persimmon tree. I cried as well, not so much for the cat but because seeing my wife upset. My wife works long hours and has always done more for anyone that she received in return and that cat was one of the only things she really enjoyed. I can't replace him.

Wounded non-vitally he will go just as far and be just as savage with 500 grains of lead as with 200. And 100 grains in the right place are as good as ten million- WDM Bell

We had a Himalayan for 13 years- Amazing Grace. You don’t pick a cat; they pick you. We got her as a kitten from our son’s homeschooling group. A real unique cat and slept at the foot of my bed each night. She was a predator and would bring her kills to the back door stoop. The Audubon Society rejoiced at her demise. At dinner, I watched her playing with a long black fan belt. Nope my mistake, a rather long blue runner that she had fought and crippled up while it had thrown 2 coils around her. She survived 2 poisonous snake bits to the head. My youngest son would whistle for her like a dog and she would come for her original Meow Mix. He would hide atop the stairs and call her. She would slowly creep up the stairs knowing at some point he would leap out and scare the crap out he her. Broke my heart when she had to be put down because of a brain tumor. I have a heart pacemaker & defibrillator device and the lab called to ask about the episode I had when I buried her under a walnut tree out back. Still think of her when I see her claw marks on the window sill upstairs and the bath door frame downstairs. She would sun on the sill upstairs (take the high ground). I still miss her lying in my lap while I read in my recliner. I still miss her.

She was a small dog and we were heartbroken. No options so she spent the next several nights in the freezer

Dogs,Cats have a way of worming into your heart.
If a man does not have a cause worth dying for , he should not be alive . Stupidity left unattended will run rampant Don't argue with stupid people, They will drag you down to their level and then win by experience

Anytime is the wrong time for a beloved pet. The pain of their passing is the price we pay for the love and companionship they give us. It’s a high price that is worth it.

Lost 2 dogs this year. Mauser, my little buddy followed me everywhere and was truly devoted and loving, passed Feb 16th. Rigby, my best friend and absolutely God's gift to me, died of what I believe was a broken heart exactly 1 month later. Mauser was actually Rigby's dog, because this was Rigby's house and she was the boss. I'm still heartbroken over losing my only 2 companions.
