I like the compound better too.

Mathews something. Bought maybe 8 years ago. since new it’s had maybe 40 harpoons sent down the line.
Very nice bow and rigging, I just haven’t had reason to shoot it much.

Original Asbel Bighorn with Black Widow as second. Truth be told the Bighorn is smoother, but I shoot the BW most because it is 10 pounds less draw weight. At 72 I fear damaging something. I have tendinitis in my string forearm and have difficulty canting the bow.

14 year old Hoyt Maxxis made meat a couple days ago. Same old Muzzy 100 grainers.
2007 Mathews Switchback up to bat next.

2024 Hoyt Torrex is dialed in
Using a cheap Scott release ( still looking for a Fletchunter Shorty somebody might part with ).

Blackwidow got new limbs. Am now hitting full draw and holding at anchor. Draw arm/ shoulder doing well. Bow arm shoulder is slow to come around.

May get back in the groove w the recurve by Halloween. Until then, use the compound.

Need another pack of G5 Strikers....in case I blip a couple of does next week or so.

Just got a Hoyt Satori.
Spare recurve. 19 inch riser w med limbs makes it 62 inch.
Be OK for 3d.
May try Uukha shorts and hunt it at 60 inch.
Figured longer riser, more mass weight be better for targets

Used two 90's era Browning bows for many years. Rotator cuff injuries sidelined them and I used a ten point crowwbow for a couple years. Now I am using a cheap "Black Hunter" longbow at 45#. If you can hit with it it seems the arrow will be effective no matter what it flies from.

I've been really impressed with my Quest from G5. It's not as flashy as many on the market but it is a really compact sweet shooting rig.

This past Christmas I got a Matthews/Mission Switch as an intro bow. I can pass it down to my kids if I get the angst to buy something better.
This will be my first season with a bow, and I'm hoping to put an arrow into a deer.
Bow is set up at 55lbs 29"DL, though can likely increase the draw weight as I can pull and hold without a problem, I don't want to risk shifting POI and trajectories until I skewer something.

Very simplistic and utilitarian setup - TruGlo 5 pin sight, whisker biscuit, Scott Shark II trigger release
Will be shooting Black Eagle outlaws and DeadMeat V2 100gr mechanicals.
Will likely go down the rabbit hole

Am liking my Hoyt Satori.

This is my backup recurve, it's 62".
The Hoyt medium trad limbs are smooth, pretty nice I think.
Dunno how shorts would feel (would make the 19" riser a 60" bow).

Have a 17" riser coming, and will try the mediums on it (be 60" bow then).
May end up getting another set of limbs and have both riser set up.

I’ve been curious about those Satoris. I have an out of state hunt coming up and a takedown bow would make travel much simpler over the 64” 1pc I usually shoot.

I’d prefer to find a 2pc but I don’t have time to order a new one and haven’t found a deal on a used one in my weight range. I need to hustle so I’ll have time to tune and shoot it for a month or two.

This one was in a shop. 45#, medium limbs.
Not exactly what I wanted in a main hunting rig, but thought it'd be pretty good for 3D (and as a backup bow).
The 19" riser has the AMO sight holes. The 17" riser does not.
Will try both out (have a 17" riser on order).
