A friend asked me to reload a few cartridges for his .243 WSSM.
Having pity for someone who would choose such a ridiculous cartridge, I readily agreed - he provided dies and brass, and I had powder, primers and 100gr Sierra Pro-Hunters on hand.
My only problem is that the fat little case with such a slim neck won't fit under my powder funnel without spilling powder. I tried making a funnel out of a sheet of card stock, but the powder (IMR 4064) bridged the hole and I had several partial loads.
I dumped them all back in the tube of my powder measure until I could get to a store with the proper funnel - even though I'd rather not waste the time shopping for a single item.
Anyone have a brilliant kludge I could use?

I would get a zip lock baggie, sandwich size or so, cut one corner off of it small, so it fit inside the mouth of the case and pour the powder into the baggie so it flows into the case. Or,Dixie cup, cut a slit down one side, and then cut part off the bottom. Roll it into a funnel shape and tape it up. an idea.

Saturn would my first choice for an individual caliber. If the someone is really worthy of your pity, maybe they could order you the Frankfort arsenal set or go big with the Area 419. Area 419 Aluminum Powder Funnel Master Kit.... $100 to pour powder into a cartridge case and it only goes down to 22 caliber? I find that interesting.

Harbor freight sells a set of three very small funnels for like 99 cents. No doubt one of them would fit perfectly.

Least expensive ammo - only ammo, I find in stock is running 6.50 per round. Powder funnel to aid in properly reloading the ammo of this cartridge & more just may be worth it to the right individual. Should you want a 17 & 20 caliber funnel adaptor, they can be purchased as well.

Satern funnels are nice. Not necessary, but nice.

For under 10 bucks these funnels have loaded powder into 1000s of cases from 17 cal to 45-70. I just don't know how I lived this long without a $100 set. If I was a one handed person than those fancy funnels might be worth it. ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/Gh9v44tp/Funnels-02.jpg)

With a similar problem with say a 17 caliber cartridge (17 Fireball ), all I did there was took a 223 case, that split at the web, turned it upside down on the fireball neck, put the neck of the funnel on the wide end of the 223 case, and that worked out fine..
for a 243 WSSM. probably a 250 Savaqe or or 257 Roberts case would work, and if not a 6.5 x 55 or 260 Rem case should work. I wouldn't need a $100 solution, to a 2 cent problem.

Not sure I understand the height issue. Would I be in line, guessing the height of the powder thrower stand is a limiting factor for you? Have you ever used drop tubes directly to the case from the powder thrower?
Since going to an electronic thrower the funnels have become my common practice to transfer powder from the pan to the case. 6mm is my larger volume loading since getting to the 6mm ARC.

Cut off some of the length of the funnel you have or get a Lyman EZEE funnel that rests on the top of the case mouth. Link here

Usually I load .243 with an 18" drop tube. Find tubing that will fit inside neck.Tape a funnel to top so that powder slides in to tubing. Pour powder into funnel slowly.
I load with 4831
I secure the tube/w funnel to my powder measure with a few rubber bans.

Now I can sit the funnel on a case in the loading tray without holding it.
These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

I have a couple of aluminum funnels similar to the one shown in the photo of three funnels. The main difference is the neck is partially necked down like a bottlenecked casing to facilitate load .22 caliber cases. I slipped a plastic drinking straw on one and use as a long drop tube. I have no idea who made the but found both at different times on tables at gun shows. I've been using them for more years that I care to remember. PJ
