Oh heck yeah. I used to have a TC Contender with a .22 hornet barrel and it was a blast.

That looks like it could be a helluva lot of fun.

I like the idea. I wish S&W could put the hornet in a K or L frame.

Punched mine out to .22 K-Hornet. I like the K version better.

I have a S&W .22 Jet. I’m thinking that would be pretty close to a Hornet. It’s super noisy with lots of blast, but fun to shoot.

The Jet is a lot of fun.

It gets there "right now".

Seeing this you’d almost think old Bill Ruger was back…a gun for the enthusiasts (some might say the lunatic fringe.) I almost wish I had a reason to get one.

I have fired one .22 Hornet handgun, a Contender IIRC, and one .22 Jet revolver. Both provided a generous proportion of muzzle blast.

Ditto, a 10" heavy barrel mounted with a Leupold 4x pistol scope. We used to blow up little bathroom sized Dixie cups filled with water out at 100 yards.

I recall that most of the articles I read on the Contender back in the day remarked how the Hornet barrels were usually the most accurate.

Your comment on the early Hornet barrels being the most accurate is true. I lived near the TC plant in Rochester, NH and both Warren Center and shop supt Jim French both said the Hornet barrels were consistently there most accurate

Mine shoots good.

I have a CZ .22 Hornet. I rented a K-Hornet reamer and carefully by hand, opened the Contender and the CZ 527 chambers to K version. I was careful to get them exactly the same. Empty cases from one will easily chamber in the other.

I was testing the Hornet rounds in the Contender, stepped out of my shop, shot a round in the ground. It had been raining and that bullet blew mud all over me, had to go in the house and clean up.

I had forgotten how hot those little rounds are.

Please stop now, I’ve already regretted selling that gun a million times.

I remember a few years ago when S&W bought Thompson Center. Anyone know if there’s a plan to ever resurrect it or has that ship sailed?

Here's another option for the Hornet, especially those 16 twist ones like the CZ. This is the 33 gr. Shock Hammer over 14 gr. 300 MP and a CCI 450 primer (K-Hornet). This is 50 yds, it's MOA at a hundred.

I didn't clock it, but from what I read, probably 3,100+ FPS, maybe closer to 3,200. Haven't bloodied it yet, but as a mono, should whack a hog with some authority. I've killed them with .17 HMR FMJ ammo.

I hope someone on here gets one and gives us a first hand report.

I am getting more pragmatic by the day but that would be a lot of fun loading for and playing with.

The 10” Hornet barrel for the Contender is one of the better shooters I have messed with.

I’d be wanting to make a K-Hornet out of it.

Yeah, take a $1,500 pistol and start messing with it.

Think I’ll stick with my Smith .22 Jet and Contender K-Hornet.

Good luck finding ammo for it.
I have not seen 22 hornet ammo in over 3 years, that's looking in 3 different states and a dozen gun shops
