Looks like Marlin will have a large loop stainless 336
30-30 and a large loop stainless trapper in 30-30 for 2024! Both will make excellent deer and elk rifles here.

Skinner sight helps and typically you can get workable velocity even out of 16” with 170s

All the cool things they coulda done and that’s what we’re left with. Nuts!
I want a 444! Blued walnut with Ballard rifling, please.
I could never see a laminated stock again in my life and that would be fine by me.

The trapper would be cool in 350 Legend. The Buckhammer seems neat but I think it’s gonna be a flop.

Well Buckhammer can be made from 30-30 brass? But would be nice or in 35 Rem! For strait walled folks, perhaps 44 mag stainless will be around the corner in 1894.

I talked to the Marlin rep for over a half hour today at the Harrisburg Sportsmans show. He said they're working on a 350 Legend lever action as we speak but they're not moving on the 360 Buckhammer until they see 25,000 rounds of ammo on the market which they're not seeing

Happy to. He also told me Marlin will be bringing out a single shot within five years. They're inspired by CVA's sales of their single shot. He said Ruger wanted H&R but the price was 7 million more than what they paid for Marlin. So instead, they decided to build their own single shot

Bummer on the 360. I much prefer .358 dia, and the energy of the 360. The reports from a couple of guys at camp on the 350 on whitetails were less than glowing. I have a model 1907 Winchester in 351 win which is similar to the legend. I consider it woefully inadequate for all but a perfect broadside shot under 75 yards.

He told me if the ammo situation changes for the 360, meaning if somebody else starts making it, that will move them to offer one. But he said right now only Remington is making it and they're not exactly pumping it out.
He told me that they are planning to bring the takedown back in the next five years and they're discussing every historical cartridge that Marlins came in. I begged for the 25-35 but he said they're not impressed with ammo availability on that one, once again he said they want to see 25,000 rounds on the market first so I don't know what historic Marlin cartridges would qualify? I was hoping that the 25-35 would make the cut because Hornady is making it and Ruger and Hornady like to work together

Mike,
What did he mean by having 25,000 rounds on the market? Does this mean total inventory by all suppliers sitting the shelves for sale? Thanks

That's the way I took it. He kept coming back to that 25,000 round number when I'd ask about cartridges. One of those I asked about was the 444 Marlin and he gave me the 25,000 response. I have no way of knowing how many rounds are available on dealer shelves for the 444 but apparently it's not 25,000. 35 Remington he gave me the same answer for so I don't know what qualifies? Oddly enough he told me about a long barreled 9mm luger model 1894 they're working on because as he said "no current legislation targets tubular magazines" so it's supposed to hold 18-20 rounds

Somewhat of an odd statement by Marlin-Ruger. Can’t really expect ammunition on the shelves if you don’t chamber the firearms that would ultimately use it. Look at the 444 Marlin, a suburb chamber for multiple duty from light loads to very heavy hitters. Hasn’t been reliably available in factory firearms by Marlin for about 10-20 years or so, same with Winchester’s 94 Big Bore. Unless you offer it, even if in smaller numbers, you can’t expect to see any jump in ammunition availability.

He made it clear that since the Marlin acquisition they've been trying to please the shareholders and show numbers. He said that's why they started off with the 45-70. He said that is Marlins biggest selling cartridge and it's not close

He also said they have several thousand completed "Remlins" that came with the acquisition that they cannot sell due to liability issues. He said those rifles and tractor trailer loads of Remlin parts are in storage with no plans in store for them

Thanks for the report. That's disappointing, the rimmed 360 is tailor made for a tube fed levergun. If they're going to base chamberings off the ammo availability, I'll be surprised to see anything other than .30-30 and .45-70 for awhile. .25-35, .32 special, .35 Rem .38-55 and .444 are all pretty scarce in dealer inventory. I can't see a tube fed 350, with pointed bullets being in current ammo offerings, but more power to 'em.

Agreed. After telling me all historic 336 chamberings are being discussed he pretty much ruled them all out by repeatedly saying they need to see 25K rounds on the market to reintroduce a cartridge. He specifically named the 25-35, 32-20, and 38-55 as cartridges they won't bring back at this time due to a lack of available ammo. It dashed my hopes. I really want to see a 336 in 25-35
