A guy has a Marlin 336 30-30 jm stamped. It appears to be in very good condition. There is no scope, rings or box. Just the rifle. I have no idea of the year but the thing looks great. If I can copy a picture of it and post it here, I will. I want to make a fair offer to him. Can you guys give me a range of what you think it might be worth? Thank you for any input!

336 what? Is it a 336? Is it a Glenfeild? Scope and rings don't matter unless they were w/ the gun when it left the factory.

Average condition between $500 and $800 for a JM in 30-30 . More for a .35 or .32 .
Grumpy old man with a gun.....Do not touch . Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Don't bother my monument and I'll leave yours alone.

I bought a JM stamped Marlin 336 in 30-30 in 2014 (mfg date 1992) for $448....shipped to my FFL, believe it had never been fired, beautiful wood. Those prices are hard to find today. Have seen them in stores that were not JM marlins for $700+. The JM stamped you are looking at is worth what you feel like offering him, within reason of course, but 700-800 is fair range I would think. Look at the Remlin Marlins manfactured today and that might help you decide.

Don't you think you should have some clue as to what this guy is looking at before throwing numbers?
