2” diameter or less, hopefully. My last cold bore at 500, took the head off a ground squirrel. Just sayin
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I got one rifle and scope I could do it with on a perfect day. I could hit the deer part with about anything I got, but I'd need no wind, my 7, and a damn good rest. 40%.....bull schitt. I'd say more like 4 percent.

If the question is “what percentage of all hunters” could do it, the answer is less than 1%
If you’re talking about PRS shooters, it’s probably 30%
There’s plenty of factors involved like position and atmosphere
5” at 500 yards is a small target and a brutal cold bore stage
The people wringing their hands over Trump's rhetoric don't know what time it is in America.

Having a close to perfect no wind zero is critical for this. Then all you need is a solid wind call. Not particularly uncommon to shoot cold bore Xs at 1000 with a Palma rifle. The X ring being 10".

I could. With a couple of slight modifications. First I would need to cut that distance in half. Second……

What can be pulled off with proper training would marvel most trigger yankers.
Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.

Punched quite a few hearts at 500 in the wind. On the first one.
Pretty sure they are smaller then 5”.
If you can’t, maybe practice more?
6br holds waterline amazingly tight. If terrain is fairly unbroken calling wind isn’t that hard. Cross canyon is a different beast, or fishtailing.

![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/aehEFAu.jpg) 1200 yards no wind, .243 107 SMK If you shoot steel regularly 500 yrds is a chip shot under normal conditions, when hunting 250 yards is better by a long way's. Rio7

As soon as that picture showed up, I thought Damn that looks famliar. So I glanced at who was posting. Not that I ever shot at that target, only long one was the 1000 yd one, under Rio7's instructions using His rifle. But I have seen that target several times. Good shooting Blue. miles
Look out for number 1, don't step in number 2.

sounds kind of like the playing field of some stuff I stumbled across in one mile shoots.
five shots to a 1 MOA Target at 1 mile. that's with no spotter you're spotting for yourself... a lot harder challenge than most think going in..

![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/W3yKyws.jpg) 1800 yards first 2 shots no wind next 3 shots 5-7 mph from the right. a mile is a long shot no matter the conditions. No Spotter. Rio7

When I was shooting a lot of "F" class, I expected my first sighter to be a V or X (depending on the venue). If it wasn't, I had screwed up and it was probably going to be a long day. GD

The only shot that matters is the one you are about to shoot.
