Shrapnel; Sorry to read of this sir, please accept my condolences on the loss of your friend.
As others have said, his writing entertained and educated me on a number of topics over the decades.
May he RIP.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends left behind.

I met Mike at a Las Vegas gunshow right before I deployed for Desert Storm in 1990. He bought me lunch and we had some great conversation. He will be missed.

I'm sorry to hear of the passing of a man who was so kind to a young man trying to get set up to load for the 38 WCF cartridge. I bought dies, brass and Uberti's... There was a learning curve, and Mike was very patient with me. None of us are going to get out of this world alive. Here's hoping that our people will be there to meet us when it is our time to make the crossing. Prayers for Yvonne. From his writing, it sounded like they were joined at the hip for many moons.

He had a pretty mighty life, well lived, and he died at home where he deserved to be. He advanced our art and that's a good mark to leave.

My thoughts as I posted this on another site:
It’s really not fair to all of you that have never met Mike. I have spent the last several decades in the shadows of this great individual and cherish every moment every story, every joke and all the times that we laughed about the simplest things. Neither of us took, much of everything very serious. Although we were serious about guns ammunition and shooting them, the rest of it was about enjoying and having fun doing that. I think back of all the times the trips we went to gun shows we went to, the articles that we worked on together, my life has been enriched through that time I shared with Mike.
I was able to contribute some guns, shooting, little knowledge and time as we shared those times through the generosity of his knowledge and my ambition to benefit from his experience and good nature. Hopefully, that indelible mark that he made on all of our lives, will not soon disappear. These have all been treasured times for me and not to be forgotten.
There’s no way I can express how much my life has been bettered by knowing Mike and how much it will be diminished at his passing.
Suffice it to say, I’m going to miss you my friend, but I know the long distance we have to endure for now, won’t last forever… Well put Shrapnel: we were all enriched by Mike’s writing and obviously his presence. We all could tell, from his writings, he had the utmost respect and fondness for you, and as you said I imagine you two had some wonderful times together. Through the years we all wondered who this friend shrapnel was Mike spoke of so often , and whose identity he protected so carefully. Everyone who knew him respected him, valued his friendship and was honored by his presence. A class act. The shooting world is diminished by his passing, we can honor him by keeping his memories in our hearts and mind. RIP fellow traveler.

Duke will be missed and fondly remembered by many. The shooting community is a poorer today with his absence. Blessings

A very nice, short tribute, Kirk. My condolences to Yvonne and also to you.
Mike blessed many of us with much knowledge. I will miss his writings, for sure.
