it was a good weekend. walked into the LGS an scored one of the 870's dipped in the original bottomland pattern. got home and got on GB and won an auction for a matching 11-87. got both for what one normally sells for. I have lusted over those guns since i was a kid drooling over the Remington catalogs

It’s always good to bring home bucket list guns!!
It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Those are getting tough to find and usually pricy when you do.

I lust over them as well. Mostly just the 870s, as everyone I knew growing up in the 80s used them. Nobody could afford the 11/87s. An old bachelor had a pair of the bottom land 879 & 11/87. Were his turkey and waterfowl guns. Man as a kid we thought he had world by the nuts.

I'm far more of a Rem rifle fan, but I do congratulate you on a "BL" find! IF the "Bucket List" title here suggests soliciting other's BL yearnings... Short of decimating "family earnings"... My 'one liner' response (Really!), plus reference: Model of 1934 Remington Honduran Contract military rifle. https://www.collectorsfirearms.com/...er-had-one-of-these-in-33-yea-r4861.htmlBest! John

I have lusted over those guns since i was a kid drooling over the Remington catalogs Back in the early 90s when I was heavily involved with the NWTF, my wife actually won 2 of those bottomland 11-87s in back to back years. Both had the choke tubes cut at an angle which I'm guessing is why the Federation got a deal on them. Old Rob Keck was all about the bottom line profits. But I digress. I still own the first and have been abusing it for 30+ years now. When I say abusing it I'm not kidding either. I replaced the original barrel that shot 2 foot left, but a steady diet of 2oz lead Winchester turkey loads over the years caused one broken extractor, one ejector, and the magazine tube broke lose of the receiver and had to be re-silver soldered. (first time Remington did it and they did a terrible job). I shoot the 1 3/4 Longbeards now but they are still violent on the action. Anyway the only contest she'd win is an ugly gun contest. I actually call her Hillary because she's butt ugly but a stone cold killer with zero remorse.

I had a classic .257 Roberts. One season with it was more than enough. I like 700s but that caliber was a waste of my time.

I guess if I had a bucket list of Remington it would be several, both rifles and shotguns
Late 80s/early 90s Special Purpose 11-87 or 870 with walnut furniture.
1100 Magnum Special Purpose
700 BDL Varmint Special in 6mm. Scroll checker pattern.
700 VLS in 22-250. Original configuration with checkering and black forearm tip, not the later beavertail set up.
The heavy barrel bolt action 22 LR would be another.

Model Seven Predator 17 Fireball. Don't know why, just always thought I'd like to have one.

My next rifle will be a Rem Arm 700, read to many favorable range reports not to support ig Green. As far as a bucket lister, mid 60 870 chrome lifter, 26" IC plain barrel with cord cob forearm.

Bucket listers….hhmmm. I think I’ve already found mine. When I touch them they speak to me. When I hold them in the woods, the sun warms their walnut, and I recall days and friends of old.
My May ‘53 721 in .270 has been mine for two years, but I’ve known the rifle 40 years. It will never leave. My November ‘71 ribbon checkered 700 BDL .30-06 is a beauty.
My best friend gave my son his March ‘72 ribbon checkered 700 BDL .243 when he was 10. I found a takeoff stock and cut it down three inches so the pipsqueak could shoot it. He got four deer his first season. My son is 33 now and his rifle has been back in the original stock for a while. We’re saving the short stock for his son…..someday. Definitely a bucket lister.
My 12 gauge 870 Wingmaster, 28 inch full, I bought with farm chore money in 1973. I presented it to my son in his 16th birthday on his first official dove hunt (with an extra 26 inch imp cyl barrel). He got his limit that day. A bucket lister.
My early 80’s Ruger 77R tanger in .270, 1975 Marlin 336 .35 Remington, early 90’s Ruger SS SBH 7.5 inch wearing a 2X Leupold (my bride bought for my birthday), and my Ruger 10-22 she got me as a wedding gift way back in ‘82.
I have others guns, but these are my bucket listers. I am enjoying seeing my son step into my shoes as he goes afield with his bucket listers.
