I found this calculator. Pretty easy to use. Maybe it can be a sticky but a way to determine if reloading makes sense. Right now, current reloading prices - I can get ammo cheaper by the flat than I can reload. Probably a good idea tho to keep items on hand if shells get hard to find but in my case, 1oz #8's aren't as prone to disappearing as say 7x57 Mauser ammo is during a crunch. Anyway - here you go. Calculator.

Works nice when one has stockpiled a bunch of components for 10,16, 28 & 410 you can save a bunch. No so much though with 12 & 20 but you can make exactly what you want also. Mb

For the majority it probably is cheaper to buy certain factory loads. For those of us shooting vintage, short-chambered guns, it still pays to reload.

There was a time where the only way for us to get ammo cheaper than reloading was to buy a pallet. Now I can order ammo from Scheel's for 10 cents a box cheaper than I can reload them for - not counting cost of time/equipment.

For a guy who has zip and trying to decide to get into reloading shotshells that's probably right. If you want to do it cheap get a mentor and by a used mec 600 Jr. Find deals at gunshows on the components you need. Go find a Lyman shotshell manual and do some reading first thing. Mb
