Glad to see there are other .410 lovers out there!
I've used many over the last 70+ years and kept a couple of singles for "things that go bump in the night." Amazing how many other cartridges can be made to go bang in a good .410 with no ill effects unless you happen to be on the wrong side of the muzzle!
(I learned this in my misspent youth wandering around in Mexico....).

like you, I have had a love affair with the .410 for about 7 decades. I have gone through many and have always berated myself for each one I let go. Today i have a single shot H&R Topper 158 that I restocked. amazingly deadly out to 45 yards. Also have a set of Savage four-tenners that i use in my 12 double. when at any yard sale i always grab any ammo I see for it. have enough to last me to the last shot. that topper is deadly on grouse with 6's .

I have an AYA in 410 and use it a bit shooting pigeons training my dogs. Really have taken a liking to it and seems to me it would be a really good grouse gun. Unfortunately not much in the way of grouse around here unless you don't mind traveling a lot!

I've also got a 158! But mine has the "Ultra-rare" Long Tom 28" barrel! That extra 2" makes all the difference in the world, ya know! Sky scraper!

I was kidding--I also have no idea if 28" H&Rs are rare! I suspect not since I've seen several. They are a little bit easier to swing on a moving target, tho.

I have an H & R Topper single shot in 410 myself. It’s an old one. Pops had it. What a great shot gun. All my kids learned to shoot shot gun with it. We shoot grouse with it and kill the odd chicken (rooster) with it.

I also have an H&R Topper in 410. I bought it around 1981 for $45 dollars when a local Department store went out of business with money I had saved or rather Dad bought it, lol. It’s still in mint condition. I would’ve been in second grade. I killed a lot of squirrels with that little gun. I also have a Winchester 37, a Rossi double, and a Savage 24 which is chambered in 22/410.

We have a few.
A mossberg 500...my favorite.
A new Stevens single shot, and a Cricket pump.
I am MAGA.

I have an old Stevens 410-22. It’s a neat gun. My dad had a 410-22 mag which I shot as a kid. I wish Savage would have made a 28 gauge . I would like to find an Iver Johnson in 410 or 28 single shot.

I have an h&r I bought decades ago and somehow the last six inches of the barrel got bent. I cut it off, "recrowned", and remounted a fat bead. It's now what I call a perfect "refrigerator gun" immediately accessible for anything. Its killed more than than any gun I own! I used to reload for 12 and 20 gauge but now only a mec 600 jr set up for 2.5" 1/2 oz #8's is on the bench. An always available short .410 with a cylinder choke attends to an amazing number of firearm needs.

We have a rule at one of my clubs .410 only on New Year’s Day. I also hunt preserve style on another club. This particular New Years I started out for pheasant and was carrying my Mossberg .410 because after hunting I was going to the other club. Hunting with me was my Buddy Paul and his 12 year old son Ryan. I had already decided not to shoot anything but be the backup in the event Ryan missed. Decent rooster flushed, Ryan missed twice and I hit that poor pheasant so hard (3 inch number 4s) we couldn’t salvage it. Plan on a little squirrel hunting this fall with it and number 6s.

I finally got my personal unicorn. Model 42 second year production. It only took me 40 years to make the leap. Single shot still rides in the truck though. Old habits and all that.

Love those Winchester 42 .410’s ! 👍🏻 I’ve killed a lot of doves with mine.

We shoot grouse with it and kill the odd chicken (rooster) with it. Grew up with one of those. No telling how many ducks and doves I killed with it when I was small. Little brother has it now. He and my nephew both started bird hunting with it. I’d love to find a clean one for a reasonable price. It’s amazing how much they sell for these days. 🤪 The import copies they make nowadays just don’t have that nostalgic feeling of the old H&R Topper’s.

I've shot a lot of .410s yet didn't own one until about a year ago when I got a Browning BPS. It's a very effective gun. I wish ammo was cheaper. But it's a joy to hunt with. I like #4s for squirrels and #9 TSS for turkey. A few months ago I came across an H&R 88 that looked unused. Looking forward to taking it out this fall.

Some of you guys are missing out. Reloading the 410 is simple. You have the hulls from shooting factories so primers, powder ,wads and shot. Primers at 7 cts each, powder varies but about 8-9 cts per shot, wads 3 cts a shot and 800/ 25# bag 7.5 each per shot. Your time+ 26-27 cents per shell or 5.25 to 5.50 a box. Just saw 2.5" 410 target loads today at scheels for 15/25 but the 3" stuff is almost 30/ box. It's a neat hobby and makes your shooting less expensive. Mb

I love the .410, and have loaded for it on a MEC 600JR. for decades.
After finding one of the rare K-Mart Marlins in 12ga. (which is an H&R Topper), a year later I found one in .410 like new. They say only 5,000 were made(serial number starts with a K). This was right before the Bowling for communists film maker forced K-mart to stop selling guns and ammo.
