Mississippi covers a very vast area! From the bottomland Delta of the MS River to the piney forests of East Central it’s big changes. As whole, the deer Numbers are good, season is long, bag limits liberal. I’m in East Central MS 13 miles from the Noxubee Refuge headquarters and in those 13 miles, it starts in the red clay hills down into the Noxubee River watershed of bottomland. Very different very quickly.
Anything specific be glad to help!

I hunted Bienville national forest several times years ago in Forest, MS. It’s a big place. Make sure to have your stuff together as most likely you will be checked by Mr Green Jeans. That area holds lots of deer but I am unsure how much pressure is on it now. If it were me I would look at the map and find somewhere along the interstate. There are tons of deer along that stretch of 20 between Morton and Lake.

If you bow hunt, look at Panther Swamp around Vicksburg.
Big deer come out of there for those that put in the work ( miles on foot).
Public land.
IIRC, they do a draw muzzle loader hunt 2 weekends a year.
