Thinking of starting with this in the fast twist 22-250 using the 70-80 grain heavy for caliber bullets. Anyone been down this road?

Yep, it's great powder in the .22-250. I use it in my Tikka 8T .22-250. Below is my load data for 75 gr Gold Dots. As always, safety first and work up to these loads. The Gold Dots I use below are coated with hBN. Therefore, these loads may not be safe with uncoated bullets.

35.8 gr RL-16
Lapua Brass
CCI 200
75 gr Gold Dot
2.107 BTO
ES: 14
AV: 3157
SD: 5.3

37.0 gr RL-16 (exhibited some heavy bolt lift)
Lapua Brass
CCI 200
75 gr Gold Dot

Great stuff under 88’s and 95’s in my .22 BR. But at $70/llb., I’ve moved on to 6.5 StaBall.

Ramshot Hunter is a good choice for the heavy bullet/22-250 combo. I'm @ 3275 from a 24" bbl w/75gn A-max. Hunter is just a tag slower burning than 4350.

Good to know. I've got a jug of it and Big Game that I want to work with for a 22-250 with 77/80gr stuff. Am hoping one of them will be the ticket.

8 twist Shilen/Mohawk with two loads. I think RL-16 would be great, have a can, just never tried it.

Have posted this before. "80 gr. Midway bullet" was actually a 75 gr Hornady that they load in their SBR/TAP Tactical .223 ammo, not available otherwise. These were surplus Midway offerings. I weighed them and did some research on line. Midway will never tell you what they actually are; you gotta figure that out for yourself. I'm thinking most of those offerings seem to be Hornady, but can't confirm that. Prices can be pretty good.

Superperformance worked OK, but is pretty slow burning compared to RL-16 and H-4350. So, one would think the .22-250 may be pretty easy to load for.

Good shootin DF!

Big Game is right by RL16 on the burn chart, have a small jug of it, will give it a go. Also have a small jug of Hunter to try if those other choices are less than satisfactory. Good to have options.

I have a mini stockpile of 77 grain TMK, that will be my load development mule, then get close & swap over to the 70 grain CX and 80 grain ELDX.

Lots of it around here. All in 8# jugs. Prices range from $499 to over $600. I'll use up what I have left of the $200 8#jug I bought a couple years back and use something else. All the popular Alliant powders seem to be ~$75/lb around here. I like it but not enough to pay an extra $20/lb.

Thanks 41.

Gotta shoot those 3 shot groups to get bragging targets. I know, I know, they don't mean much, but are fun.

I've never tried the 77 TMK, 70 TTSX or 80 ELKX. I do have big jugs of Magnum, BG and H-4831, the latter I bought at a local gun store a couple years ago for $189. Those were the days.

We don't use .22 cal for deer at my deer camp, although I'd like to try it. I do shoot the 75 SSII in my .22-204 over Varget at nearly 3K fps. It's deadly on 'yotes.

May need to try those heavies, although my gun is an 8 twist, not a 7 twist.
