We chase cocks. Our deer seasons are all wrapped up by mid November. My 14 yr old son had never killed a wild pheasant. Finally caught up with one today. Got a great point from the dog, great shot from my kid and the bird was retrieved to hand. Not a bad day!

Iโd give up all big game hunting if I knew Iโd have consistently good upland hunting.

Great Job. Start him out right. Head him in the right direction and he can do the rest himself.

Right on young man!. A memorable event for sure. It sure ain't what it used to be out here. No kidding. Huntable wild birds are few and far between in my neck of the woods.

It sure ain't what it used to be out here. Somebody on here said they are hard to find in Nebraska even. I say the Habitat chicken finally came home to roost.

Looks like a great day to me. Something Iโve never done. All we have are quail, and theyโre as scarce as Bigfoot now.

Game and Parks released a few thousand on the WMAโs across the state around Thanksgiving just so they could say we still hunt pheasant in Nebraska. ๐

Congratulations to the young man
I'd like to have better upland game birds and small game hunting in this region, but between all the development of the "mini ranches " and the "ranchette estates " on the one hand, and the lack of interest in varmint control from today's hunters it's nothing like it was when I was younger

I wish my son was till round to hang with and do things together. After the Army he decided college at Boulder CO was his next step.
