It is a Tikka T3 light SS. Thinking of a 3X9by 40 or close to it. Simple duplex, light weight. Maybe a Leupold VX freedom. Or if I want to spend the extra dough a VX3 3.5X10 by 40. I would consider a vortex or other quality scope. This will be mostly a dear rifle, with 150 grain bullets. Maybe 165s. I have a 06 for 180s. What kind of optic are you using for a .308? ...tj

These are a screaming good deal. Credo 3-9x40 green illuminated unless you are an AL resident, no tax. Shipping can be a bit high with Family Firearms, but the no tax and low price offsets it.
I watched (3) guys I know, the other day, fhuqk around with a rifle each, trying to get a 50yd fhuqking zero(for some reason?) with their Reupolds. It was Textbook! Shoot, look through binoculars, adjust, tap on side, rinse, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat and fhuqking repeat, for Improved cylinder at best. I just stayed back, laughing to myself. They finally came towards me,asking for help and I explained that they were pissing up ropes. Hint.
They asked "what are you shooting" and I said "a fhuqking new Three Oh Hate,I haven't even shot yet",so they said "why don't you shoot next". I pulled the bolt and peered through. It looked close,so I shot at 100yds. They asked "how did you do THAT?!?",because I had made slight adjustments, prior to first shot and quickly shot two more rounds and said "I'm done,Thanks". I simply subtended that trio's location, corrected turrets to arrange POA/POI and jammed. Then went to 900yd steel on the first round, via reticle. I've ZERO doubt they are STILL talking about that and wondering WTF,because it was everything, that Reupold ain't(which all they know). Hint.
FN A3G Skinner Smooches,pre-shim pull,so single loaded and 5-20x HD MQ FFP Mil/Mil LitBitch with 60 MOA inclination. Typical results. Hint.
Just sayin'...............

Since I have the same exact rifle, I'll show you what I have and use with very good success. However, I have to ask why use a duplex??? I'd use something useful, like the ballistic plex. It really broadens the horizon, on what you can do with your rifle:
Targets out to 400 yards, using the reticle:
Just as an example. That Burris FFII 3-9x40, with ballistic plex is 13 ounces, and works damn well. I use them on most all of my "hunting" rifles.
I have to say, great choice in rifle. The Tikka is a damn good platform. I can almost guarantee yours will be a tack driver.

I have been using Burris Fullfield II 3x9’s and have been well pleased. Good solid scope and reasonable price. I’m a long time Leupold guy. Good luck, Rick
I've yet to see a Burris, track, repeat or hold zero, but I actually shoot. That with REAL Rifles, that exist. Hint.
Dug out a couple/few Dead Reupolds yesterday, for laughs. Some arrived Dead, though NIB. Hint.

ACTUALLY shooting and in REAL conditions,is something very different from Velvet Glove Sunshine "Adventures",if only obviously. Hint.

Athlon 1-10X28 Helos BTR Gen 2 is on my 18" barreled .308 Win that I shoot suppressed. It isn't a duplex, but the reticle works well for as far as I'm going to shoot hunting with a .308 Win. Illumination works well in lower light or when your target is shaded.
Right now I'm running 130 grain TTSX bullets at 2983 fps, and it flat out puts deer down.
Thanks for all the replies. 1st, why a duplex? I might buy Ballistic Plex. Have one on a savage 99 .308. frankly I really don't understand it. But I don't shoot past 300 yards, I might when I retire and have more time to practice. I have never seen an Athlon scope. Would look at one for sure. But that reticle is far beyond my comprehension. I have owned a dozen Leupold's over the years. Never had one let me down. Maybe you don't like them. Thats your choice. I have had Burris too. I like them well enough. My friend has a Vortex Diamond back with Ballistic plex. They are easy enough to ignore, if I can't figure out how to use them.
neveroutdoors: Your baseless and immature attempt at besmirching Leupold scopes is both stupid and laughable. And I never seem to tire of pointing out your stupidity and lack of real outdoorsy knowledge! Leupold scopes have been serving me and a squadron of my Hunting and shooting friends just fine for well over 50 years now. Shot a new to me Rifle with a Leupold scope on it just yesterday in fact, and I would rate its performance as wonderful - as I have learned to expect over the last half century plus. Aren't you embarrassed when you publicly display your ignorance and lack of real outdoor experiences/wisdom. If not YOU should be. It just never happens that you make a posting based on serious firsthand outdoor experience or of a positive contirbution like nature - thus YOU have earned, and do deserve, the deprecating monicker "neveroutdoors". Sad (and pathetic) that. Long live Leupold & Stevens Corporation - a fine American company! Hold into the wind VarmintGuy
