I prefer a high-shoulder shot on Nilgai.

Anytime I need to or want to break something down immediately I run a head shot. I have seen to many people shoot high shoulder that get up and run off later. Done correctly its fine, other than the waste of meat.

I've seen too many "head shots" go astray.
I'll always go to the "high shoulder" shot fir a quick anchor shot.
Point two being, I've pulled a number of head shots, last time, I turned a "cull hunt" deer's head into mush!
Most disgusting thing I'd ever seen!
I will waste a little meat on a high shoulder shot before I try another head shot!

To each his own.

Hole is blown up…
We counted 18-19 boats last time we went.

Yeah, if anybody ever finds a "sweet spot", the whole stinkin' world will eventually show up and ruin it for everybody! 😖
Only takes one rotten apple to spoil the barrel.

I take out the spine with the shoulder, and both times they just collapse.

Sorry you see it that way. But tight behind the front leg works.

Thats actually how we shoot dangerous game animals too. Why we would shoot them any other way on the first shot makes zero sense to me. You risk way to much trying to break bones going in.

Talked to a friend of mine and he had a bit more info. Seems these guys had been doing it for a while, but looks like they were a “full service” provider - take you hunting, provide you with a little medication, and a hottie to keep you warm at night. Talk about an all inclusive package 😁

Not exactly certain what you are saying... but I will never pass on a high shoulder shot to put a bear down, now. Screwing around with lungs only leads to "grand stories of crawling through tight cover." They die, but when becomes an issue.

Mark Begich, Joaquin Jackson, and Heller resistance... Three huge reasons to worry about the NRA.
