Yep, 4H club. Twice, first time a Holstein calf when I was 10yrs old. I spent a lot of time with it, it would meet me when I got home from school. Didn't win any ribbons for calf but won 1st place grand showman ship. Next yr took a sharlae (even spell correct can't spell it)! Won 2nd or 3rd for the beast but nothing for showmanship, dam thing laid down and wouldn't get. Finally we got him up and into the truck. We went home and that was the last time I showed any more. πΎπ£πΎπ£π¨π¦ GWPGUY

Hauled a string around the PNW for a few years... Lots of fun, lots of work, lots of money spent... The money spent put an end to it...

Showed Brown Swiss dairy cattle from early 60s to about the 80s. At one time we had won 17 Premiere Breeder awards at state fairs in Ks, Mo, Ok, and Tx. Lots of work!

Well we're Green and we're Gold, and we play better when it's cold. All us Cheese heads have our favorite superstar. We love Brett Favre.

Until I was 20 , my life revolved around milk cows. I had enough being around them twice a day, and the remainder of the time was spent growing/harvesting food for them. I sure didn't want to mess around with them more. Today, the only thing I like about cows is to eat them. I don't consider the a companion animal.

Showed meat rabbits in 4-H and market steers in FFA. I couldn't compete with the rich kids and their expensive show calves, but enjoyed the experience. My parents were active in the county fair leadership and are still remembered for their involvement. I had hoped my sons would do the same, but neither had any interest. Grandkids don't either.
