This was the description: Winchester model 1895 in a 405 caliber. Made in 1908 there is not a whole lot to say about this one because everything is pretty much perfect on it other than a few tiny little handling marks from being in the the back row of safe, and it shows it bc it is a Bueaty,the gentleman I acquired this from told me that his father bought this brand new and had it in the back of the safe the whole time. He thinks it is never been shot, but I’m going to list it as used and shot a couple times. He did not have the box when he moved. It got thrown away. Emphasis mine but the Phillips head screws in the buttplate weren't invented until 1932, revised and made available to consumers in 1936, the same year the original 1895 was discontinued. These don't look molested - hard to say if they're replacements and why would you replace the slotted screw with Phillips years after buying it and setting it in the safe? Slotted screws across the entire rest of the rifle, except on the buttplate. And they show being twisted in some pictures. As mentioned. Phillips head screws weren’t even available to the public until about 1936 or so. That gun is definitely not
“Original”. And certainly has the look of being refinished.

The surface finish of the receiver is a bit too perfect and the same all over. All the edges seem to be a bit rounded too.
