Not her first water crash! She piled one into Lake Erie as well. That plane was found about 2 years ago by a scientist who works at the marine sanctuary here in Alpena.
Pershing 1A. No city too big, no populated area too small. We even get the roaches.

Story posted quite a few pages back.
I'll say again that the simplest explanation is most likely: they ran of of gas, crashed, and drowned. It was my understanding that there was some radio signals they navy couldn't quite make out but were sure they were from Amelia. But, since nothing has been found of the airplane my guess is it's in some deep water. kwg You may want to look in the jungle around Papua, New Guinea…
