I’m pretty sure glass with lead can no longer be imported to the US, and most other developed countries either. I also believe Schott glass is lead free currently. Kowa has developed lead free lens that are allegedly better than any lens containing lead.

But….the brass parts in optics can still have lead in it for easier machining.

Indeed. Although it is certainly possible as shown by huge retail vendors, for example Zoro, MSC Direct, McMaster-Carr etc..."Others"just don't because they don't have to and they don't want to.

Happy shopping! Money talks. LOL

Nowhere does in list COO. No “ proudly made in china “ stickers…

Be alot easier if makers, and vendors would list COO.

Like now, looked at the Sig Zulu8 binos online, Sig doesnt list where made, no online vendor ive seen lists where made…. Fugggg…

Hi, are all of your sport optics manufactured and assembled in China?

No. We work with the same global service optical network all companies work with. We have assembly work done in China on some, Japan and the Philippians on others.

Electronics and parts are purchased in Germany.

All items after assembly return to Germany for hand inspection and final work done by our German Engineers.

Hope this helps.

That's funny! How can anyone trust GPO now that they're pulling this kind of crap? LOL

Would love to know where my optics are made but retailers will not post COO. In the case COO is not mentioned bet your sweet ass it's China.

I do understand China is improving quality..

Here's another story along those lines:

Around 20 years ago a well-known European optics company (but not one of the so-called Big Three: Leica, Swarovski and Zeiss) started having their binoculars made in Japan. I learned this from their then-marketing person, who swore me to secrecy--and was confirmed a few months later when I went on a hunt with the optics buyer from Cabela's--who been to Japan and seen them being made. The ONLY part of the binoculars made in Europe was the rubber-armor exterior, which said "From -------", the European country not "made in ---------"

The most interesting thing to me was the Japanese version was noticeably better optically.

Whatever Chin Lee is doing at the GPO sweatshop, he's doing it pretty damn good. Their Rangeguides are fantastic.

I picked up a GPO Rangeguide 8x40 3200 binocular from Doug at the beginning of hunting season and put them to work.

I found them to be a great addition to my hunting gear, compact and light weight, 2.3" x 5.6", 25 oz.

No complaints at all with the ranging, and no blue tint.

They hung right with my Zeiss Victory 7x42 T* FL binos in a low light test, which was unexpected.

Definitely worth a look after my experience with them.

I bought a pair of the GPO Rangeguide 8x40's late in the season. Not much use yet, but I'm satisfied so far.

We have two now, Eileen's 8x40 and my 10x50. Both the optics and lasers work great.
