We have a good ongoing "kill thread" for predators and varmints, but not really a thread dedicated to posting fresh hog kills. Maybe this one can keep going.
I'll start with this pig, being a fat sow that hit my nearby cell camera last night as I was finishing eating supper. Big belly, probably full of piglets and likely nearing 200lbs.
I managed to make the sneak into the location with a small red flashlight to pick my way and then braced against a post and lit her up at 230-240yds with the AGM Spectrum 4K night vision and Sniper Hog 50mm Turbo IR light. 150gr Norma SP .308win factory load.
Drug her back out to the shooting lane and chained her up for the drag to the dump hole. One less breeder to compete with the deer and hopefully more to come in the following weeks. I do love hearing that "WHAP" when the bullet connects with a stout pig!
I had to run to the ranch to get something out of the cabin right at dark and a whole mess of them came wandering by as I was unlocking the gate. My can was on the boy’s rifle so I was back in the Stone Age. 😁Got this big guy and a couple of his buddies. 75gr Hornady Interlocks from the Hornady pistol load over TAC.
They must have came back in the night as there was just a greasy spot a day later.

Have you used the scope in mixed timber at all or just directly in shooting lanes?
The last time that bear ate a lawyer he had the runs for 33 days!
Just lanes and fields so far. Have used two units from AGM and one from Sightmark. All have worked well enough with good IR lights. Thermal is definitely the ticket when there’s obstructions in the way.
Perhaps not the most humane kill, as this shot severs the spine, they drop and paddle. Most times I put a second or third shot in them. This time I did not.
Dang pig did not want to die, even after I came up and shot him 3 times in the head with a 9mm 147gr. JHP's.
Yeah, if one is still flopping or kicking when the smoke clears, I'll generally put an insurance shot in the chest with the rifle. They'll typically be totally done with any wiggling 20-30 seconds after that.
