I had to run to the ranch to get something out of the cabin right at dark and a whole mess of them came wandering by as I was unlocking the gate. My can was on the boy’s rifle so I was back in the Stone Age. 😁Got this big guy and a couple of his buddies. 75gr Hornady Interlocks from the Hornady pistol load over TAC. ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/kX9t7ZKv/IMG-8095.jpg) They must have came back in the night as there was just a greasy spot a day later. You think his buddies ate him, or possibly coyotes? I need to start setting up a camera on dump sites. I’m sure it was probably pigs. Coyotes will leave big bones, I guess pigs just crunch them up and eat them bones, hooves, hide and all. They are efficient if nothing else. Years ago when I watched hunting programs I would get tickled when the star made a bad hit (espeially bow hunters) and they would say, we'll come back and get him in the morning when there is more light. Ain't happening in the Texas Hill Country. I often say that if one needed to dispose of his mother-in-law, the Texas hill country would make an excellent resting place. 24-48 hours and nothing will be left. Hide nor hair! ya! GWB Coyotes, buzzards, and hogs would take care of that That's a fact, and as GW said, It's hilarious when the TV hunter frauds use the "I'll back out and come back in the morning" line. I made a poor shot on this nice TX Panhandle buck at last light a few years ago. Looked, looked, and looked some more to no avail so I had no choice but to come back in the morning. I'm sure it didn't take the 'yotes more than an hour to find him...... ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/jHtLlWC.jpg)

Looks like fun. We don’t have any on our lease……YET. Knock on wood but it’s probably just a matter of time.

I’ve been watching a bunch the last couple evenings. Only about 15 minutes of light by the time I get off on day shift and an hour before light when I get off on nights. But I finish up my last night Thursday morning and they’ll be in trouble if they’re still where they have been.
As bad as they are the one bright spot is how much a guy can learn about bullets and stalking game by hunting 100 days a year and killing scores of large animals instead of one or two deer in a year. Certainly has opened my eyes and dispelled some long held beliefs and long storied myths. I probably get to kill and examine more deer sized game this way in a year than many will in a lifetime.

Couldn't agree more, and you just described my situation as well. Hogs are great test subjects, and I'm very fortunate that my two buddy's places are infested with them and I have easy access. It's enlightening to learn how wrong the internet experts can be at times that's for sure.

November 20th, 2024 Shot one early on. Shot two more on the move that did not come to the feeders at distance later. of the three, only recovered one. ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/YkbF4Z2Q/Screen-Shot-2024-12-30-at-9-00-09-PM.png) Being as it was at night at unknown distance, it took a while to find the next morning. November 21, 2024 ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/W2S6WzdF/Screen-Shot-2024-12-28-at-11-25-16-AM.png) Got a twofer' on two eaters' by lining em' up. ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/Rm8Fjm0s/Screen-Shot-2024-12-30-at-8-58-10-PM.png) Shot them out of this blind. I built it in 2002. Moved it here in 2004. ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/VmPNkFnX/Screen-Shot-2024-12-30-at-8-59-08-PM.png) Had my thermal with me and was perpared to stay later but the crew were cooking steaks, taters, corn on the cob and grilled vegetables, so I decided to head on back to camp rather than have a cold tater' and wait! I have eight locations that have spin cast feeders and one water trough where the hoglets come at night. I set up to throw corn for 3 seconds twice a day at 6 and two I feed only at night. 300 lbs of corn will last a little more than three months. Some folks say if you shoot pigs off a feeder they will not come back. When I set up a feeder, I usually wait 3 to 6 months before I kill off it. By that time they have it their piggy brains that this is where the groceries is. I typically do not hunt a location but once every month to two months. Allowing that time period to elapse, pig are always back to their routine. Don't kill every night but pretty much kill on average of two out of three sets. Seems like the more time I'm in the stand the luckier I get. ya! GWB
