I don’t need a backpack, or water bottle holders, or room for 14 radios etc. Just a simple, rugged strap vest that can hold a box of shells and load a pheasant from the front. Anybody know where I can find one?

Not sure that’s possible … if it’s a strap vest there’s no way to front load game

Definitely a harder configuration to track down. The discontinued Filson Shelter Cloth strap vest has front loading as well as the rear flank access. My go-to vest when all I need is simplicity as you noted. Simple cotton straps with no adjustment buckles and a leather covered waist buckle is kind of nice too.

Thanks. Cabelas used to sell what I’m looking for, but it is no longer available. Chief upland does a front loading strap vest, but it is complicated and pricy.
