I highly doubt that is possible. I know I sent a nice pre 64 fwt to someone here, and it was supposed to be there before Christmas, but damn the USPS sucks in that neck of the woods!!!!! How about any of you guys, did Santa bring you a nice model 70?? I got my Christmas gift early, when JohnW sent me a pre 64 300H&H. I love that rifle!!!! Please share with your fellow Winchester model 70 lovers. Thanks!!!

Gave a 17yr old grandson a mod 70 Alaskan in 30 06. Wasn't the model I was looking for but he is 6'2, figured it would work. Never saw one before but was impressed, nice piece of wood and good balance.

Santa added a M70 to the stable, a newly made in Port., Extreme Weather in 6.5 Creed. Up until now, my newest was a S.C. made .270wsm that ended up being a great rifle. To be fair, I really am a Classic fan, so I can be snobbish toward other guns, but so far this EW is really fairing well, it shoots my one 6.5 Creed go to, sub 1", trigger is OK, the grip is a little chunky, but weight/handling is good. Once it warms up, I'll get to trying other loads.

If it would have been up to us, it would have been there in 2 days!!! That's what I paid for, but I'm glad it finally arrived!! I was just out shooting my 300H&H earlier today. Some swat guys there. I wanted to try the "accuracy" load that sierra suggested, but damn, it didn't shoot as well as the load I developed!!!!! My buddy was there, with some of his friends, so I fired off 3 rounds at the steel yote. First 2 right on top of one another at 400 yards, the other one was 1" off of those, according to one guy running the spotter. I took that load over to the 100 yard range, and it only shot 1". I'm going back to my other load, and also have the barreled action sitting in some epoxy right now. Had to fine tune it a bit. Whoever glass bedded it, forgot all about the tang!!!!! Oh well. She's getting fixed right now, as we speak!! You can always tell they are novice, when they do that!!!!^^^^^^^ And the goop overhang here: It will be better. I'm also going to install a lighter trigger spring, to bring the pull weight down to 2.5 pounds. It's at 3 right now. Good, but not good enough.

I did, a very complicated project, 1958 year model 375 H&H length mag actioned rifle that had been rechambered to 300 Ackley, pad added, checkering sanded off, hmmm i said, went to work on what I could make out of it.
Could look for 300 H&H barrel, then it'd be a 300 H&H with pad added, already have a 300 H&H, 1951 standard rifle with steel butt, bugholer.
Found 338 Win Mag barrel, and a guy with a box full of correct Winchester factory red pads, the ones that came on the Alaskans, Africans and 375 H&H rifles, will throat chamber to run 275gr Swift A Frames at 3.585 inch 0.020" off, install correct red pad, have correct factory checkering put back on the rifle, because this rifle is what it is, stock will be pillar bedded and floated.
With clearance for the 275 SAF's, plenty of jump will already be there should I want to run the sleaker nosed 250gr LRX, this rig will be loaded hot, looking for accuracy and 2800 fps with the 250's, 2700 will be plenty with the 275gr Swifts.

Nice!! Sounds good gunner. You'll have to keep us posted on this one. I really like the 338wm, even though I don't shoot mine much. She's always ready to go hunting though!!!!

Yes Sir, will do, going to have to find a scope that looks right on this old rifle, holds zero and stays put, do have a very old 3-9x44 gloss Leupold, they made a few of those, it's been a solid glass, we'll see.

To your point, agreed, the 338 WM will do it all day, any day, everyday, standard load now is 250gr npt's at 2740 fps over H-1000, great load.

I just sent you a cool video on my new 300H&H, stretching its legs out to 400 yards. That's not really that far, but you know me, I'm just running a cheap Burris FFII 3-9x40 on top. That gets (easily gets) me out to 500 yards..

My son gladly relieved me of my 53 YM 70, about 3 months ago. Chambered in 220 Swift. I let him have it as I have another Swift, although in a Ruger #1, and he claimed to be in love with the Win.

My 338WM is far from being original, but I really like it. It's actually an upgrade from the original 338wm. Built on the H&H receiver, as well. You'll find that is the proper way to go. There are a few benefits I can think of right off the bat with that one. 1. Longer magazine box 2. Higher magazine capacity (4 in the box, instead of 3) 3. Lighter receiver: Couple that to a lightweight stock, like the Brown PoundR, and you have a damn good package.. Rifle weighing right at 7 pounds, isn't a bad thing.. You are going to be running the wood stock, so it will look more original. I look forward to hearing more about it!!!

I didn’t get one for Christmas but I have been drooling over a 338 wm 6 digit blued with really nice wood for $900. I don’t need a 338 but it looks really nice and looks to be bedded as well.

Probably a reasonable deal, but I'd be dragging my feet too. if it were $700 or $750.00, I'd be on that one!!!
