I am looking to connect with Cape buffalo hunters who use a big bore single shot rifle.
For a few years I have been hunting Cape buffalo with a H&R single shot rifle converted to 577NE and find it very satisfying.
I'll bet there are some Ruger#1 aficionados who are out there stalking the cape buffalo in the African bush. I look forward to hearing from you.

How much does your H&R rifle weight? Do you have any pics of the little gun? I bet that Joker is a hoot to shoot! I had a H&R single shot 12Ga.that was pretty stout with Slugs big-time 'bout like getting hit with a sledgehammer when you pulled the trigger!

12.5 lbs. empty. 26.5" heavy barrel. Yes, they kick like hell in stock form. It's partly the old school style of stock, way to much drop. Imagine what the 10ga. would kick like!
I restocked this one with a very straight stock and it makes a huge difference combined with the heavy weight. Also I use moderate loads. (700 gr. Peregrine BushMaster bullet at 1,850 fps. which really works on buffalo.) It's not too bad to shoot in the field facing a buffalo , but it is a bitch to shoot on the bench.
Recently, I milled a tank/cannon muzzle brake for it that I use for practice and load development. That really has spoiled me!
I have photos that I would be happy to post but I don't know how. If I sent them to you would you be able to post them on this site? pleeeeze!
Thanks for the post,
Brian

Here's a previous post where I gave another person one of the several ways to accomplish this task: https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbt...097165/re-picture-test-help#Post18097165Basically I go to https://postimages.org/ and click on Choose Images. Once the images upload, I click on the Copy icon next to Hotlink for Forums to copy the code to paste into my post.

Haven't done it, but I might, using these two, if my gunbearer/loader will be handing off to me: Also pictured on left in ammo lineup above is the fodder for 20-ga 3-1/2": Waiting for an action to handle the second of a pair: Tried to get that installed on a Ruger No. 1. Couldn't get the extractor to work on the20-ga rim. I wonder how NECG did it on this 20-ga 3" ?

Once again, very interesting Sir Ron, along with the other informative posts in front of this.
Brass Cojones, are involved in these hunts as far as I'm concerned! IMO!
Good stuff gentlemen!

@RifleCrank. That's pretty cool. Are you turning the cases/bullets yourself for getting them from a supplier?

https://www.rockymountaincartridge.com/index.htmFor my brass: RMC, link above. Robgunbuilder did the monometal slug machining. I cast the lead ones. Rob's original 12GaFH 3.85" is based on the 50BMG blown out and then a machined 12ga rim screwed onto the base. My chambers and brass are slightly bigger in diameter to fit the RMC shotgun brass using standard SAAMI shotgun diameters, and the thicker-walled, machined brass cases from RMC. I might have been the first to get them to do 3.85" 12ga brass at RMC, don't know if they still do, might be a special order. The 20ga 3.5" plastic hulls used to be loaded by Hastings for their slug guns, now gone the way of the dodo bird. RMC might still make the brass hulls for that.
