I own a few, none are for sale or trade or in original configuration. This is a screw bean mesquite stocked custom 96 with English walnut tip and cap. Thump coking piece removed, bolt handle bent and swept, knob reformed, Timney trigger, sporter safety fitted, height reduced one cartridge and thinned, made into a carbine style, light weight rifle.

several years ago the market was flooded with Swedish Mausers, now you seldom even hear about them let alone see one for sale. The last 6.5X55MM that I saw for sale was a Winchester M70 I know where 2 are for sale right now.. They are very original, with price tags like this: I have not seen many m38's for sale though..

Carl Gustuf is a 38/96. Husqvarna is a 38. my typing might be off but the rifle is clearly marked Carl Gustaf. I am not at all up to date on information about these rifles, but it does have the short barrel. It most definitely is a 1896, since it cocks on closing. Husqvarna made model 38's new in that configuration. Swedish arsenals also took model 1896's and cut them down to model 38 configuration, thus called 38/96. I have one of the 38/96 and it has a 1900 marked receiver. The Husky's were made in the 40's.

I’ve got a sporterized 1917 G Stads in the Swede caliber of course. Everyone on the ranch loves shooting the old girl. It will flat whack elk or deer. I think it has a 19” original barrel. Badge, all matching part numbers.

Quit giving in inch by inch then looking back to lament the mile behind ya and wonder how to preserve those few feet left in front of ya. They'll never stop until they're stopped. That's a fact.

I ordered two in, the infantry model and the short rifle. One for my dad and one for a neighbor. Great investments.

Not being a smart azz, just asking. My dad bought a few of them, back in the 90's. Yugo's right out of the cosmoline. If we would have known then, what we know now, we would have bought crates of some rifles we saw in that price range!!! The 90's were good times.

I did pick up my Carl in the late 80's early 90's along with a 24/47 Yugo. Brother-in-law went with an SKS and spam can of ammo , I think they were $99 each. Swed and Yugo were under $200 each and sporterized now.
There was crates of em.

Someone said to go easy on handloading for it-do not do that. It was made to handle full pressure 55,000psi military ammo all day long. The Scandinavian countries were also VERY picky about the quality of steel that went into their rifles-so much so that whenever they had someone else make barrels or recievers for them, they supplied their own steel. American manufacturers of ammo already handicap the performance of 6.5x55 by downloading it in the name of saftey (because of single lug krag-jorgensens that the ammo may find its way into) giving the round an undeserved handicap. Thats fine for plinking targets-but if you ever intend to hunt with it-dont be afraid of harnessing its full potential. Mine likes the norma 156gr RNSP (an exact copy in shape and weight of the original military fmj before they introduced spitzer bullets) and the 147gr ELDM. I’ve got some 153 A tips loaded up for it but havent had the time to sit down at the bench and put them on paper-I know they’ll work just fine on game if the rifle shoots them good.
Browning A5 sweet 16, Maxus 12ga, and X bolt, 6.5PRC #269 Schwacker, 650gr total weight, 30%FOC Ugly Stick Ultralight and spiderwire 6lb stealth braid for everything.
