There's a brand new Legend Tournament LWTS70LXF rod for sale on our local FB Marketplace. It can be bought for $100. Am I wrong in thinking that a 7' 1-piece Lite action rod would also be great for casting in-line spinners across larger areas of water for trout and possibly smallmouth? Line weights 4-12lb and lure weights 1/16-1/4oz. Thoughts?

It will work fine. We caught trout in lakes and streams for years with “spinning rods” and then took them home and caught crappie, sandbass, and walleye on them, back before we knew you had to have a specialized rod for each fish.

Big water might work, but the handle's kinda long for most trout work.
Smallmouth, ya need more backbone and a fast action, in case ya run inta a hanger.

(My favorite rod of any of mine, for any purpose is my 7' 1 piece St Croix walleye rod) but I'd be very leery of buying a used rod for much money. You don't know how it's been handled or if it's been dinged agains something one or more times hard enough to break a couple of fibers which will grow into a bad spot with the rod failing at just the wrong time. Fish don't break rods. Poor handling or unseen damage to the blank are what break rods.

I have one of the Legend Tournament Bass Series 6'9" and I love it.

I have a Lamiglas Certified Pro Drop Shot rod. 7’, light/mod-fast. I use it to drop shot for bass, light bait rigs for walleye, and throw spinners and jigs for trout. My favorite spinning rod of all time.
