What size scopes do you use on your 22’s ? My son has an assortment of 22’s, win 9422 , chuckster , Remington, etc Some bolt, some lever, and a pump or 2. Need some recommendations on brand and size.

The size depends upon my use. I don't currently have any rimfire that doesn't have an adjustable objective scope on it. You don't need AO for shooting squirrels or tin cans, but you do for getting top accuracy. You won't find non AO scopes used for any serious target shooting. 3-9X is plenty for me to small game hunt, but I like higher power when punching paper. Something in the 4-15X or so makes a great informal paper punching scope. Brands just depends upon your budget. I've always been partial to Leupold and the Bushnell Elite scopes, but there lots of options and most folks seem to feel that their opinion is the only one that counts.

Burris FFII with Ballistic plex in 3x9 is you absolute huckleberry for a .22 That scope works very well on any hunting rifle. They also make a rimfire version, with the parallax adjusted for 50 yards. Is that the one you are talking about, or just the original FFII 3-9x40 with BP reticle??
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

might not fit what you want to use your 22 for but I have one each of these Hawke
3x9-40 vantage 22 high velocity reticle 4-12 vantage 22 subsonic reticle 4 to 16 vantage 22 subsonic reticle ( 30 mm tube locking turrets)
all of these scopes for the money I find the glass quality above expected and the reticles if you read the book and use proper ammo or spot on the money.. the 4 to 16 is a fair bit of money jump but it is definitely noticeable in better glass and nicer turrets.. so we'll use our if you're shooting serious competition these probably aren't for you though the 4 to 16 for certain types of matchwork is doable...

Be prepared to get all kinds of answers on this one, but it really depends on what the use is going to be. Contrary to popular belief, you don't need one with an AO. I've proven that over and over here, and elsewhere. Some people just don't seem to get it though. They want to say you absolutely need a scope with an AO. That's a myth, in all reality..

Burris FFII with Ballistic plex in 3x9 is you absolute huckleberry for a .22 I like the Burris Droptine rimfire scope with the ballistic plex reticle. The parallax is set for 60 yards and the reticle works very well for holdovers. I prefer the Droptine because the eye focus does not rotate when changing power settings. I have read that the same glass is used in both and To my eyes there is no difference in glass quality between the FFll and the Droptine. Either can be for around $140 ,or less, with some careful shopping. drover

Everything from red dots to Leupold 2-7 to 6-18s . Had a Leupold 6.5-20 on a 77/22 once.

My Winchester 69a carries a hawke 2-7.
My nrl22 savage mark 2 tr carries an athlon argos 6-24.
Others remain open sighted.
Really depends on usage.

My vote is for the Leupold 3 x 9 x 33 EFR. Great scope that will last for many years of Great service. Very clear and rock solid. I have several of them on different .22's.

The thing I look for more than anything for rimfire is the finest reticle that I can get Of course I want good glass first but with a large reticle it looses me I just picked up a Leupold straight 4x but what makes it desirable to me it a very small dot I can see that on a critters head very easy I have a few Sightron 26013 they also have a tiny dot and I like them also

If you’re looking for a serious answer, you’ll need to give some more details.
What’s the intended purpose of these rifles and what’s your budget? Do looks matter?

What Robert said. Purpose? Carrying all day? I use a couple Arkens on American rimfires to kill pigeons on dairy farms. The 34mm SH4 is about 2#, but we run around in a 2-seater. The 30mm LH4 is probably a more sensible choice. For this stuff I "need" a lit reticle for low light. And I don't care about the aesthetics. Function before form. Also have a 10/22 with Aimpoint Micro that's for carrying on walks and for introducing kids to .22s.

Dollars, while important, are not the biggest concern. Some of the older guns may be used for plinking, nothing serious. Others for mostly squirrels. Not a fan of large objectives. I don’t have a preference for fixed or variable, new or used is okay. I would like them to’fit’ the rifle (look correct). The main rifles would be 9422 mag, 9422 lr, chuckster 22 mag , and a savage 1911 22 shorts rifle. The savage is missing the rear sight.

Yep, it does. I wasn't knocking your recommendation but was just pointing out that the Droptine had a rimfire version which I don't recall being available in the FFll. Since the OP specifically asked about 22 scopes I wanted to make him aware of the rimfire version of the Droptine. I have three of the FFll and three of the Droptine rimfire and they all perform just fine outside of the wandering adjustments, once zero is established they hold it just fine. drover

What are the upper end scopes for rimfires with the proper parallax?
