OEM batteries in my 2003 2500 dodge diesel - they went 17-years and I just didn't want to start another Idaho winter. i have no idea just how much longer they would have went! The two new ones defiantly cranked that Cummings over much faster ...

I thought I would be the winner. I guess if you only count road vehicles, I am. I bought a 2001 Toyota Tundra in 2008 with 15,000 miles on it. It has been so dependable and garage kept, it's easy to forget things need done on it also. I had bought several batteries through the years, and convinced myself that one of them was for the truck. One day in 2015 I was getting ready for deer season, and did minor things to the Toyota, and happened to notice the battery was an original. I went through my records and realized I hadn't bought one as I thought. It was still going strong, but I was spooked about taking it up a drag road in the middle of nowhere, so I bought a new one. So....at least 15 years!

Battery in my Miller welder was still going strong at 16 years old when my son took custody of it. Don't know if he's replaced it or not.

I have lost TWO premium AGMs in the last 6 months.

One was a year old...

The other was 7 months.

Obviously both were replaced under warranty, but damn.

Had an Optima yellow last me 15+ years...

I still the the original batteries in my 2016 F250. I keep thinking I should replace them, maybe I will this year.
Truck had been driven for a little over a month after another new knee in the first partof December started up this weekend just fine.
Dealer told me 4-5 years ago it needed new batteries.
Our 2017 Expedition got a new battery last year.

It happened the other day.

I inherited a little subcompact Kabota tractor from my father after he passed away in 2016. It's been starting fine. The other day I was using it, shut it off, and when I went to start it, it just clicked once and everything was dead. I pulled it out to jump it and it dawned on me that I've never changed the battery since I've owned it. The positive cable was pretty corroded, but I jumped it until I was finished with what I was doing. Then I pulled it out and took it to the battery shop and got a new one. The guy at the store looked at the codes and said it was from 2012. 13 years old. He checked it and the thing still had plenty of juice, the terminal was just corroded. I put a new cable end on it.

It was an Exide.

I had to replace the original battery in a 20 year old New Holland TC30 last fall. Was stunned that it was the original battery.

Had the twin 6-volt batteries in an MGA Twin Cam crap out once. The parts store had to special order the replacements, not much call for such things. While waiting for new batteries to show up I resorted to crank starting it - set the brake, make doubly-damned sure in neutral, pull choke and lock it, turn on ignition switch, insert crank handle through the hole in front bumper into the pulley nut, bring it up to to top of compression stroke, give 'er a yank. Pull crank out (if it fired), run around and jump in the car and unlock the choke and tickle the throttle to keep it running, drive away. Got a lot of strange looks from folks who never saw a car hand cranked! (MGA's came with a long hand crank ostensibly for use in setting valve clearances and setting points but it worked splendidly for starting the cars too.)

I used to swear by Interstate batteries, but I just had two of them fail after 2 yrs in my boat. I know they're different than automotive batteries but it sure soured me on the brand. I didn't buy them, they had just been put in new when I bought the boat. They both failed about two months apart, and to top it off when I checked the numbers I found out that they were only warranted for one year. mad

Just replaced my AGM battery 6 month old that was dead luckily still under the 6 month warranty bought at Oriley cant get any life out of the AGM batteries. I do not let them go dead in cold weather. Going to buy a new one at Wall Mart they have a 2 year warranty. When a AGM goes you cant bring them back pretty tough to deal with when you are 40 miles out in the bush in Alaska, most newer ATV,s need so many volts to run. Prefer the lead acid for battery life. On our cars we get about 7 years with a lead acid battery.
