As the 1640 seems to be kind of a small ring Mauser will a Timney Mauser trigger work with it?

Best idea is to check with Timney, they have been quick to respond to email questions in the past.

If Montana had a standing army, a 270 Win with Federal Blue Box 130's would be the standard issue.

VernAK, Spoke with Timney this morning. Asked what they had that would work with my 1640 Husqvarna and was advised nothing thy had was compatible. My old gunsmith that is retired said a competent experienced gunsmith should be able to improve the existing trigger enough to make a positive difference for a lot less money than replacing the trigger.

43Shooter; Afternoon sir, I hope the day's behaving and you're well.
As it turns out sometimes, there's a Husky wandering over to the shop this afternoon for a new Decelerator and we're going to see what we can see about the trigger.
I'll report back tonight as to our findings and what we did to arrive there.
Edit; The trigger as we found it was just a smidge under 5lb but reasonably crisp.
We were able to get it to 2 3/4lb by changing the front trigger spring out.
At this point the owner isn't going to install a shoe on it, but if one can find them, I've found shoes seem to make the trigger seem to be lighter/more manageable when it's wider than narrower.
All the best until then.
Dwayne

43Shooter; Evening sir, you're most welcome.
It was the 3rd one we tried for sure, but we were happy with that result for sure.
Interestingly enough, this one had a nice light walnut stock on it - slight Monte Carlo with a rosewood tip complete with a white spacer.
When we looked carefully at the bedding, we saw a crack behind the recoil lug, not huge but it's there, so I'll do a quick repair on it and bed the lug, the chamber area of the barrel and a wee bit at the tang too.
It's got the alloy, wider bottom metal on it by the way.
All the best.
Dwayne

Had many a Husky fitted with a Mauser 98 trigger. I think they used to make one specifically for the Huskys but don't now. All mine wore wing safeties and that may be part of the solution.

Has anyone tried the Huber? Tradewinds offered another but are very scarce. I have one 1640 with an older Timney Sportsman Mauser trigger with a left side safety from an FN. Works well but leaves a thin slot where original safety slid along tang.

Had many a Husky fitted with a Mauser 98 trigger. I think they used to make one specifically for the Huskys but don't now. All mine wore wing safeties and that may be part of the solution. I have a 1640 action, originally it was a custom target rifle in 6.5-06 with a single set Canjar trigger with tang safety. I had issues with the trigger and ADs when trying to set it. So I took it to my GS and he couldn't fix the trigger to his or my satisfaction. I also didn't like how the 6.5-06 fit in the mag, and could only use 140s due to mag length. So I had him take the rifle apart and I sold everything off but the action. I looked around for a factory trigger, and couldn't find one. So I purchased a Timney Sportsman for a 98 without a safety as I was told that one would work. I was going to replace the bolt shroud with a military and low swing safety, but lucked into a Dakota 3 position safety M70 style for cheap. I have the safety installed and it seems to work, locks the bolt on safe, middle position unlocks the bolt, and fire drops the firing pin. Somehow between me finding the Dakota safety, and ordering the Sportsman trigger, I misplaced the trigger pin. So I'm not 100% sure this will all work together. If it does, and I find a stock I like, I'll probably build a 6.5 Swede on the action.
