I first started using the Hotcor's with the 150 gr. flat nose out of my 30-30. When I graduated high school I had a 30-06 on a Springfield action put together by a friends gunsmith father. The limit back then was 6 deer I believe. Knocked them all off with that bullet loaded down a bit to 2800 fps since there was no possibility of a shot farther than 150 yards. 42.5 grains of IMR 3031 under the 150 gr. Speer spitzer Hotcor worked every time. great blood trails, good sized exit holes. I moved to Wyoming in 1981 to work in the oil field. As soon as I got resident status up until 1994 I hunted almost exclusively with that bullet when deer hunting, but usually loaded to a near max load of 4350, 180 gr. Hotcors and Partitions for Elk. Made some impressively long shots and always had satisfactory bullet performance. I personally can't see how a match style tipped bullet could have done any better. 6.5 or otherwise.

Some that I have had very good results with in the past.
Nosler partitions.
Round Nose Remington Core Lokts
Speer Mag-Tips

In the last few years I have also used some Nosler Ballistic Tip HUNTING in my 300 Savages, and so far I like them.

I have used the 150 gr. Nosler Partition in my 308 a good deal. Excellent all around bullet to include elk.

Does the 30 cal 154.7gr Lapua Scenar count? I thought my 308 win was respectively accurate until I tried this bullet. Suddenly started stacking holes down range. And excellent terminal performance. I tested this bullet in wet newsprint and this is a genuine hunting bullet disguised in target fashion.

Yes it counts. As a hunting bullet does it stand out or is it's accuracy it's selling point?

Hornady Interlock SP. I have used 150 grain Hornadys in our .300 Savages, .308 Winchesters and my BIL's '06.

Started loading Hornady Interlocks for the 300 Sav back in 1979. Kept inventory simple and used the same bullet in the 30-06 I got a few years ago. And load it in the 308 I got last year. Inventory still simple, just need a bigger stash😀

In my opinion the worst were the old tin capped Winchester silvertips.

I use GameKings for 308’s, couldnt get partitions when I got the 308. The GameKings shot so well I’ve continued to use them.

Nosler partitions for 30-06’s

I've used both the 150 gr Interlock and Hot Cor launched from the .308 Win with good (and unsurprising) terminal results.

150 Interlock in both .300 Savage and 30-06. I've been using the 150 SST made for the .300 Savage recently and it performs just like the Interlock but is a little more accurate in my rifle. The 150 Grain Hot Core and the 150 Sierra Pro Hunter have worked well also. The Interlock is my favorite though.

Used bullet in everything, until they got scarce, figured out ballistic tips kill just as well and are more accurate. Cheaper also

Not cheaper than the $11.00/50 I got them for when everyone talked smack about them. Picked up a couple of thousand at the time. Shoot better than I can hold.

Wow! Lots of excellent bullets here, I have had great results with:
Barnes TSX/TTSX
Sierra Game king and Pro Hunter
Nosler Accubond
Hornady Interlock

These have been my favorites over many years of Whitetail hunting with a a pile of different .308 Win and 150 grain bullets....Good hunting..Hb
