I haven’t shot a 30 caliber on game in many years! But, for me it depends upon the game being hunted, and the cartridge used. So, I’m not experienced with recent entries by various companies!

If it’s small big game, many cup and cores will do adequately …..provided that the shot is taken within the bullets useable velocity window, not too fast nor too slow! Mono’s are still quite effective on the small stuff, if impact speed is well above it’s minimum expansion velocity……especially effective if heavy bone is hit or a “raking” shot is taken.

If it’s a large, big game animal (elk, moose, big bear, ect.) , a good mono……once again if the bullet’s impact is within it’s proper velocity window. memtb

I do a rotation on my rifles trying to use them all over a span of a couple of years. With the exception of my old Springfield 30-06. It gets called in at the end of the season every year because it seems to be a lucky rifle. So every year I use at least one 30 caliber rifle. It stays sighted in with a 180 grain bullet nowadays a Hornady Spire point and the same weight Partition. No change in zero and well proven on many hunts. If I was the sort to be reasonable I could get by with two 30-06 rifles. One sighted in with 150 grain bullets and the Springfield. I tried it once but couldn't do it. Too many new toys to play with.

My .30 cals are used on both deer and elk. I have zero complaints with the 165 Accubond. Has been working great on both the past few seasons. I shot quite a few deer with the 165 interlock (boattail) with no complaints.

Big fan of the 168 Nosler Ballistic Tip in .308 and .300RSAUM. The 165 Fusion has been a winner in factory offerings.

Seems there are not many bad mid weight bullets in 30 caliber out there.

I have used many over the years, most were very effective.

For all around use the 165 grain Nosler Accubond has no peer. It is my absolute favorite.
