The 165 grain Partition and my 30/06 has taken several elk. It’s not as accurate as the same weight Interlock however.

I don’t use that weight often, but I’ve had good luck with the Sierra 165 GK BTSP.

My .308 (Kimber mountain ascent) thrives on 165 grain Accubonds and RL15.

Interesting topic. I'm a big fan of the 165 gr. Speer Hot Core flat base bullet in the .308. I've more than my share with the bullet from a Ruger M77 RSI over the years I've owned that rifle. It's a very fussy gun that will only give decent hunting groups with the Speer Nitrex ammo that is now long gone. (DAMMIT!) I finally was able to duplicate the load with the 165 gr. Speer and W760 so no big deal. Switch to any other brand 165 gr. bullet and groups go straight to hell. Velocity from the RSI is 2550 FPS and 2610 from a 22" Winchester M70, exactly the same speed I got when testing the Nitrex ammo. I sure wish Speer would bring that load back as my .308s love it.
I'm not a big fan of the Sierra 165 gr. Game King HP. I shot some early on when they came out. No idea of the velocity back then but a reasonable guess would be about 2800/2850 FPS from a 24" barreled 30-06. While out on a deer hunt I shot a coyote and had a very messy two piece "yote". I thought that bullet to be a bit too soft and haven't shot any since.
So far with only one animal taken, I like the 165 g. Accubond at 2800 something FPS from my 30-06. Took one of the largest cow elk I've shot at a bit over 100 yards. The elk ran maybe 30 yards in a half circle, collapsed and expired. I found no exit hole and never recovered the bullet. I think it was n the gooey mess that was the elk's left lung.
I have a fair supply of 165 gr. Partitions but haven' gotten around to loading any yet. Guess I'll ae to do somethng about it. PJ

I’ve used the following: Sierra BTSP Hornady interlock Nosler partition Speer hot-cor Speer RN
All have killed deer, fastest was the Speer RN out of a 300 savage. Hardest hit was the partition, out of a 308. But I mostly use the hot-Cor and the Sierra now, because there’s never been an issue.

I don't have one, I shoot heavy for cal, but, if I had to pick one, it'd be the 165gr TTSX barnone.

165gr SGK SP in multiple .30-06’s. 155gr Scenars in my .308 and loaded/shot some in my .30-06 Montana with great success this year. Probably be using that much more in the future.

I know most Barnes like to be pushed fast/light for caliber. Read a lot of guys using the 130gr. TTSX in .308 with great results, do the 165’s perform well at 2500-2600 out of a short .308 Win?

I'm no help old buddy, but, i'd run that sob as fast and accurate as i could, I think it being a TTSX instead of TSX, you'd be good to 350+ yards and still get good expansion leaving at 2600 fps.

Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning will take care of itself. Coach Bryant. The first time you quit, it's hard. The second time, it gets easier. The third time, you don't even have to think about it. Coach Bryant.

Still shooting Bats from 100 count boxes bought in the early 90s at a close out. Hunting and zero only. Think there is one more box full left. They will last me. From the 308, they are exactly what I want. Balance of destruction, pass through, quick kills.
I’d probably go to Pro Hunters, but no. Use them in other applications happily, I’ll buy those on occasion. I’m not signing up for the screwing on a new load. Been a fan of Nosler and Sierra since the 80s. Paid a little more, didn’t mind. Both companies have gotten too greedy.
