Driving home to Kenai from the big city, there were at least 4 people skating at the Sunrise end of Kenai lake. Also 4 or 5 people skating on Jean lake. Surfaces looked about ideal for skating. Can’t recall seeing skaters on either lake before. Andrew Berg had written about skating on Tustumena lake, more for travel than recreation, IIRC. Not uncommon to see skaters up on the arm.

Many years back one of our local lakes shaped up perfectly for skating. One can do serious miles with very little effort when things are good.

From my speeding vantage, surface looked like openwater but was obviously not.
With our warm January, it may have been open and froze again with not wind to form a perfect surface. Great training area for speed skating.

Only three good reasons for someone like it come to mind: 1) He took his husband's name after the wedding? 2) It changed its name after the transgender surgery? 3) To hide from previous husbands he ghosted? Likely source of the SSS moniker?

Twas a very small part of our fam's business. One fella that bought one decided the Moose River looked doable...
He was on his game for almost 10 minutes. He then realized that he had forgotten how to tack!
Couldn't put enough pressure on the brake. Dang if he didn't sail right "smack-dab" into the Kenai. Good thing the water level was at a 10 year low....😁
