I converted an old archery deer target into a decoy several years ago. That was during the rut, now I use it all year round. I've had both bucks and does come in to investigate it. With a set of real antlers and a real tail attached some of them are convinced it's the real thing. Even though it's pretty shot up. I did touch up the paint around the eyes, nose & the white throat patch & ears.

I don't know why it works during the early season but I suspect they are trying to figure out who the new guy is. Anyone else use a decoy, what kind of results have you had?
