I’ve missed 3 .45 Colt Mountain Guns. 1 from stupidity, one from being broke, and another because I couldn’t get there on time.
Never fooled with gunbroker, now might be the time. Or wait on a new one; sans Hillary Hole.

I have a .45 Colt MG with a Ultra Dot mounted. 280 grain cast at an easy 1050 + fps shoots very nice groups. I have a 4 1/4" Model 69 with a Vortex Venom that shoots even better and for some reason the L frame 5 shot manages recoil better than my N frame. It is my all time favorite revolver.

I also have a 686 7 shot that does not shoot very well. 2 cylinders are always well out from the others on target. It needs a trip back to the mothership. Fingers crossed the 686 MG is well put together.

I heard back from my dealer about a 629. They have started shipping. He called his Lipseys rep and basically the way it works is each rep supposedly gets so many allocations based on their seniority which seems dumb and then they can allocate to their dealers as they see fit. The rep told him the next one they get is his therefor is mine and he quoted me $1150 + tax which is just under MSRP which I think is fair for a hard to get gun that will probably only be worth more down the road.

Good news. They sure have built up interest in these revolvers.

41 mag would be cool as mentioned above. I got a 4 inch 69 that's nails. Carries like a dream on that L frame.

I heard from the dealer again and according to the rep they’ve got one coming in for me some time next week so I guess they’re starting to ship.

I asked another dealer today that I was at and they checked the Lipseys website and said they couldn’t allocate one yet but they didn’t call the rep like the other store.

It's the .44 inbound? Looking forward to your impressions when you get it.

Yes got the 44. I thought about trying to get one of each but I recently picked up a pretty mint 686-5 Plus 4” so I didn’t really see the point in having a 686 mountain gun as well. Those funds will probably go towards a 340PD.

The .44 MG sure checks a lot of boxes. It is a much nicer looking .44 than my Model 69 is but the 69 is the perfect balance of smaller size and shoot ability that I would probably buy a back up Model 69 before a .44 MG incase S&W looses their mind and stops making the 69.

Then again if the .44 MGs start showing up locally I might change my mind grin

A friend has a 2-3/4” 69 and it’s a pretty fantastic pistol. His is bone stock, but with some sight and grip upgrades……

I’m way better set up for .45 Colt than .44 Magnum, but I need something smaller and lighter than my Bisley. A .45 Colt Mtn. Gun would be perfect, but may have to “settle” for something in .44.

I could pretty much do what I need to with a .45 1911 or Grock, but a couple of snake encounters have left me appreciating shot loads in a revolver.

Have had 44 & 45 Mountain guns for a long time, & are great guns to have. But when I bought a 4" L frame 69 I practically forgot about the N frames.

With that in mind I'm anxiously waiting for the 7 shot L frame 357 Mtn. Chased one of those in shooter grade for years & never could connect. So exited to see it come back.
