Man, they set them up just the way l like. Had my old Mt Gun 657 purchased new back in the 1990's. I installed a tall gold dot partridge front sight as I kept losing my sight picture in the black timber. Put a set of finger groove combats on it, but I like the looks of those Bear Hugs.
Listed @ $1199 wonder if that's what they'll go for?
Depends on manufacturer tolerances. Word is that the Taffin Ruger grips are poor due to variances with the cast ruger grip frames. That's something Ruger is kind of famous for. I expect S&W grips will be more precise.
I think pabucktail is right. I have several S&W revolvers with custom stocks and they all fit very well. The grip frames are very precise. My one Ruger Flat Top .45 Colt/.45acp has 3 custom stocks I have bought for it, none fit very well. Several stock makers for Ruger SA revolvers want you to send in the frame for fitting. The new Mtn Gun’s stocks will probably be ok.

No
If you actually look at the examples coming out, you’ll see that not only the fitting but the overall shaping/contouring is lousy. Compare those Taffin guns to other current Bisley models like the .41 magnum flattops & you’ll see decent fitting factory grips. So I doubt the “internet blaming Ruger’s tolerances” theory. At least not for all of it.
The figure in the wood is also scrap lumber compared to the intro photos & shot show examples.
My original mtn gun is one of the most important guns of my career. Certainly carried more than any gun I’ve ever owned
It’s had a couple minor upgrades over the years. Crimson trace grips have been priceless in total darkness hiking out.
it’s so much easier to place the red spot on a bear then trying to focus on glowing dot open sights. The trigger was tuned to perfection, and I had it bead blasted again to remove the polished holster wear on parts

Man those are beautiful. My 629 has been all I could want and more. Despite the 4” recoil I’ve shot it a lot and become more than adequate with it. The new model may be too hard to resist.
Osky
A woman's heart is the hardest rock the Almighty has put on this earth and I can find no sign on it.
Word is the 44 to be shipped first, followed by the 357 in a couple of weeks, and as far as I know nothing has shipped yet. I ordered a 357 on inauguration day & they ordered a 44 for the store same time, nothing as of yesterday.

Ive got a 44 ordered. Checked with my dealer yesterday. Nothing yet
Mine has been used on a number of occasions for actual need in conflicts. I managed to have a photo of this particular situation which ended with a mutual decision to part in opposite directions.
The crimson trace grips are priceless in near total darkness. We were wearing headlamps which pose other issues when trying to use open sights on a handgun there is a photo in the gallery.
I do not know how to post a photo in a thread yet, any guidance on that is welcome.

JJ, it's great to see you back posting. Your experience always brings a good dose of reality to discussions. On posting pictures, describing the process takes longer than actually doing it but once done and learned it's pretty easy.
When posting or replying, make sure to Use Full Editor to get a row of icons across the top of the posting window.
In the image gallery, click on the picture to bring up the full size pic.
Right click on that picture and then left click on "Copy image link".
Going back to your post, click on the "Insert Image Link" icon, it's the 9th one from the left and will say "Insert Image link" when the cursor hovers on it.
That brings up a small window with "https://" highlighted. Don't change that, just paste the link you copied into that window and click OK and you're done. You'll see the image code inserted into your post.
I usually open up two tabs, one for the reply and the other in the Image gallery so it's easier to go back and forth between them copying links and pasting them into the reply.
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery. Hit the target, all else is twaddle!
With quick action early on, I had a lock on getting a 686 Mountain Gun. I wound up telling my dealer I would not be taking it. I really wanted one, but I found it hard to justify the expense on something that would most likely just sit in the safe. Instead I am picking up an unused NIB 686+ with four inch barrel from my brother. That will cost me the $700 he paid for it and will still probably sit in the safe. lol
