First up will be the second launch of the European Space Agency’s Ariane 6 rocket, carrying a French military Earth imaging satellite. The first flight of Ariane 6 was mostly successful. This mission will launch with two strap-on solid rockets at a T-0 of 11:24 a.m. Eastern from French Guiana. It will be televised HEREThen, no earlier than 5:30 p.m. Central time, Space X will launch the eighth test flight of their huge Super Booster and Starship vehicle from Texas. They will once again attempt to catch the booster using the launch tower’s “chopstick” arms. The upper vehicle will perform a number of inflight experiments before reentering and making a soft touchdown in the Indian Ocean. More details and webcast link HERE Earlier today (at 3:34 a.m. Eastern) Firefly Industries successfully landed their private Blue Ghost lander on the moon. It was the first fully successful lunar landing of a non-government vehicle. It will perform a number of experiments and beam back high-def videos during its expected two-week lifetime in Moon daylight. See Youtube for more.

The engineering involved in these forays is mind boggling and then you look at NASA and Boeing and their failures by comparison.

It’d be neat if the moon landing was manned. Historic even. Guess nobody’s still figured out how to do it.
