Not withstanding the mirth some seem to find in the thread...this is a terribly sad way for anyone to go.
These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

Just this. The autopsies will determine causes of death. I suspect murder/suicide which included the dog. News says no evidence of foul play or wounds on the bodies....Drug overdoses likely.....AP just now reporting that prescription bottle found with pills scattered in the home. Then how did the dog die?....TBD
Me, I am the real deal. The good, the bad, the ugly, the pretty, the wins and the losses. Nothing but reality here.

A sad, strange deal. I know hantavirus is potentially deadly, but I am surprised it took her down so quickly, that she didn't think to call for help.

WTF???? She some type of ex rodent lover... Sniffing rodent turds and piss. Kissing rodents and schit.
She had to be around some type of rodent hot spot.
Takes awhile to die from Hanta Virus.. Evidently she wasn’t much of a housekeeper if there were mice turds everywhere. 😬 You’d think with the kind of money they had, and Hackman with advanced Alzheimer’s disease, that they would have had some type of live in maid / caregiver. 🤪 First thing I thought of. Very strange.

She probably thought she just had covid when she felt like sht and started having trouble breathing. And when she crashed fast it was too late. I don't think she knew she had a virus that can kill half of the people that get it. Wasn't she the one walking around with the heater? Bad chills? Sad.

Just a guess, but there is a bunch of stuff going around here that mimics hanta. We lost a friend to hanta, and it took him pretty quick. He figured he had the flu.

Not withstanding the mirth some seem to find in the thread...this is a terribly sad way for anyone to go. I agree. Very sad. I call my mom's widowed husband daily. He's also my uncle (long story). Luckily I doubt he'll every have dementia. But I'll be damned if they're going to find his body bloated days after he passes.

I wonder if it was a privacy issue?
...Actually Sycamore, you are sort of right....

Alzheimer's is a hideous thing. She could have been happy to check out after taking care of him for some time. Who knows.
My dad's Alzheimer's pretty much killed my mother. My brothers & I didn't know how bad things were until her sister shared some things mom had hidden from us. The disease killed him, I watched it until his last breath. She passed 6 months later, some complications of things, but basically just worn out.
Have pleaded with wife tat if I get it, please put me down. Some way, some how.

What a great detective site we have here. All sorts of knowledge about the people and their deaths, not one doctor or personal contact
Then the ridiculous association with dogs and their worth being greater than that of people.
Next we’ll hear from someone reasserting the value of dogs over people, wow…

Investigators determined that Arakawa's last known activities within the community included a veterinary visit on Feb. 9. Two days later, she was seen at a local grocery store, a pharmacy and a pet store before she returned home to their gated community at around 5:15 p.m. on Feb. 11, Sheriff Adan Mendoza said during the news conference. https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/gene-hackman-betsy-arakawa-deaths-investigators-provide-update

Finally someone didnt die of Covid.
Pretty strange with his money they didnt use a maid, gardener, cook or house keeper. That is really weird. With all their money, the might have had a live-in nurse, easy to do there in an 8,000 sq. ft. house. Pay an LPN $150K a year, that would be a pretty good gig for a nurse. And a 65 year old millionaire lady is going to do all the cooking and house cleaning? They didn't have a maid coming by 3 days a week?

Before any wag here asks, "What about the dog?" that's obvious: it starved. Hey RockyRaab, slight correction, dogs and humans can go for a very long time without any food. What killed that dog was dehydration. Would have been dead on day 4 or 5 without any water.

Usually, the super wealthy have all sorts of services in the home like that on a regular basis. Heck, even the well to do do.
