Youtube gun experts, oh my. You need a new shop to go to. Only thng I get in is 3 inch 12 ga turkey guns.

Both the 12 and 20 ga. have their place. Neither are going anywhere. I had the 20 before I had the 12. I never shot any turkeys with it, but a lot of pheasants and quail met their demise along with a couple of deer and a couple of ducks. I would consider it a great privilege if my grandson (or granddaughter) were to take his or her first pheasant and quail with my 20 ga. I'll let him borrow my over and under 12 for trap shooting. Carry what you like and be done with it. Sometimes the gun is more important than the gauge or caliber. I went to my local gunshop this morning [Evearhearts , Clinton Mo ] looking at turkey hunting gear and noticed all the new 20 gauge shotguns and ammo . I watch several YouTube guys that are big time turkey hunters and many are using a 20 gauge now for turkey . What'syou all's opinions ? I was on my way to Lebanon Mo. a couple of weeks ago and I swung into a sporting goods store that was just along the highway. I'm pretty sure it was in Clinton Mo. and I'm sure it was Evearhearts. That was a great store. I ended up buying some Nosler bullets before leaving. kwg It's a wonderful store .Many pro Crappie guys go there . I buy most of my rifle reloading components there too . Used to frequent it until some of the crew quit. New manager was wanting to run it like a big box sporting goods store. Less trading, etc.

12 gauge for defense. 20 gauge for upland bird hunting and light waterfowling hunting. This ^ The 12 gauge isn’t going anywhere.

You must not have seen what a load of TSS with the right choke out of a 20 will do to a turkey target at 50 yds. This. Everyone has opinions on stuff they've never tried.

Plenty of 12 gauge stuff. The advent of TSS and any of the HTL/HD shot has made the sub gauges serious contenders to 40+ yards and has been for 10+ years.

You must not have seen what a load of TSS with the right choke out of a 20 will do to a turkey target at 50 yds. This. Everyone has opinions on stuff they've never tried. Glad I don't have to try something to know I don't need it. Packed my 10 for long enough and saw as I aged and my hunting style changed it's range wasn't needed. For me TSS is the same just in the smaller gauges. No issues with those that want to use it though.

I went to my local gunshop this morning [Evearhearts , Clinton Mo ] looking at turkey hunting gear and noticed all the new 20 gauge shotguns and ammo . I watch several YouTube guys that are big time turkey hunters and many are using a 20 gauge now for turkey . What'syou all's opinions ? More of the whoosiphacation of America, combined with Costs. MFG., Shipping, Component.

As my shotgunning abilities got better I began to appreciate the capabilities of the 20 & have/use a few.
But ain't nothin in the immediate future replacing the 12. I have a light weight 12 SxS that hammers me pretty good for extended sessions. Simply load it down. A 2 3/4 dram 1oz. load is still plenty effective. Ya can load a 12 down, but only go so far loading the 20 up, & that's when the 12 shines.

Not Sammo of course but I just looked. Midway and Grafs has quite a few options. Powder Valley had some. A check on ammoseek.com usually turns up a bit as well.
For me most it comes from a Wal Mart near the family farm in KS. A lot of bird hunting still in that area so I grab some when we're out that way.
