My father-in-law does the sharpening for all my knives. He's old school, in his 70's and been sharpening knives for 60 years. He's looking for an AG Russell Ozark Water Stone. He says that is the only one that will work as the other ones are too soft, etc. Does anyone have any idea where I can locate something like this? I appreciate any help that can be provided.

My father-in-law advised he did that when Russell was still alive and they couldn't help him. He's very particular.

If he wasn't so particular, then DMT diamond stones or even Japanese water stones would be better IMHO than any Ozark or Arkansas stone.

DMT in my experience has lasted regular use near two decades without any dishing or wearing out. All you got to do is wash it with dish detergent and use it wet. You can get whatever grit you want but I prefer the ones that look honeycombed in plastic. If I can't get a knife scary sharp with a red DMT and a leather strop loaded with green compound, something is wrong with the knife.
