25 years ago I put in a long driveway using crushed concrete. I had no idea how much metal was in that crushed concrete that the contractor used but over the first three years my tires found lots of metal and flat tires were every three months or so.
Things settled down and flat tires don’t happen like they used to however, I had a slow leak in a tire took it to a local tire shop and they had something I had never seen before kind of a cross between a patch and a plug. Kind of a mushroom shaped thing installed from the inside. So far, it has worked well.
I am one gun away from happy

Those crushed concrete materials with wire still in them are no good for driveways, EVER!!!!
The problem will never go away, and the $$$ you saved, on material, will just keep on biting you, in the backside. Fix the problem now, or forever hold you're peace! IMO!!!

Hundreds over the course of two years during senior year HS and after graduation working at a full service gas station garage then Big O tires when it was still a private owned company. None of them fancy machines either they got now at Americas Tire and such. Loved them Bigfoot Tires Big O had back then. ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/cHGzwSfT/E3-BEE4-DD-CD07-4-D47-BBBC-5-CA1-AD1714-EB.jpg)

My old man ran a country store/garage for a long time.
Plugs, patches for cars, bikes, tractor tires you name it.
I ran it on most weekends. He let me pocket all the cash from tire repairs as a bonus.
Miss pops but don't miss fixing tires.

So long ago on a motorcycle I don’t remember which motorcycle, I do remember running on the plug until the tire wore out after that like they warn you not to. Everyone did back then.
June of 2019 I was fixing a flat on my bicycle on the shoulder of the highway outside of Lamesa TX, It was like 100+ out there on the highway. when these two guys on Harley dressers pulled up. They did give me a chilled bottle of water but what they really wanted to do was evangelize to me about Jesus.
They were getting back from a 500 mile loop around the Hill Country. Two guys around 40 on Harleys, we got to talking and they had NO IDEA what to do if they got a flat. “Call the nearest Harley shop” one of them said 🙄
Mag wheels/tubeless tires on them Harleys. I concluded that Jesus had them stop and talk to me so they could learn about the simple expedient of carrying a CO2/tire rivet kit.
I wouldn’t ride around the block without one.

A few times, especially when a tire shop said we can’t do that one, but we will sell you a new tire.

I have plug kits in both my vehicles. It's a given that within the first few months of ownership I'll pick up a nail. Already had a nail in the Ridgeline tire and a chip in the windshield.

Yes quite often but I get a patch put on ASAP. Had new tires put on my stock trailer awhile back and didn't make it 25 miles before I picked up a fence staple. Even new 16 ply tires aren't flat proof.
Life is good live it while you can.

I’m running on a few plugs. They want $25 to patch a tire and the clunker I drive 10 miles round trip to and from work every day I’ll take the chance, I’ve had them last the life of the tire and I’ve had them go to leaking slow. I have a few in implement tires also.

Always try to have a plug kit and 12-volt compressor in the pickup because we might be 40 miles from nowhere, but in am emergency a simple screw can be used in a small diameter hole to get you home

Used the kind of plug that was a piece of rubber impregnated cord that you installed with a button hook kind of tool. Worked very well, in one instance ran a tire with one of these plugs installed till it was nearly bald.

ARB makes an excellent plug kit. Nothing about it is fall-apart-chinky.
