A couple years ago the lights/display on the radio in my '99 F-350 quit working. No biggie as I had the local stations preset. Was a bish scanning for stations on road trips, tho. Decided to upgrade to a cheapie touchscreen. Now I have bluetooth handsfree phone, maps and a frigging clock that works. Chittin' in high cotton now.....

Thanks for the post. The radio/CD player in the truck has gone a bit wonky over the last 20 years. That looks like a good upgrade for a vehicle I'll not replace for at least the another ten years.

I need to do something like that on my '08 Dodge pickup. The dials don't work any more. When you turn them, they jump all over the place.

My 05 is the same way, need to do something. Crutchfield seems to be the place to go.

Not really for bears as nobody uses them much anymore. Mostly talk to the farmers in the combines during harvest.

the one thing I'm gonna miss, is my cassette tapes on roadtrips like to the Icebreaker where there isn't much radio reception. Got a whole drawer fulla them. Wonder if anyone makes a little player that'll plug into these new radios......

When you're in "Car Play" Mode, you can show OnX data on that big radio screen.....

You can also likely plumb in a backup camera. My '11 didn't come with a backup camera. When my radio lights died I did similar to you regarding the new "radio" and had a camera put in as well. It's right in the Ford emblem and fairly unobtrusive. I've never NEEDED a camera to get a trailer hooked up, but doggone it, it's really friggin handy now that I've got it.

With all those power-cords plugged into the dash you could double as a teen-aged gamer (grin).

I need to do that to my old Ranch Truck.
The original radio has been dead for years.
It still has a cassette deck. 😬πŸ€ͺπŸ‘πŸ»

How much $$$ did you have to spend ?

I was willing to spend that much, for a working display, backup camera AND clock. Sure beats a wristwatch strapped to the rearview mirror.....grin

Doing the JVC swap into my 92 Toyota as we speak. 4 speakers, radio, backup camera total $340. Got the whole truck torn apart. Crutchfield is THE place to go.
