Idholton: I have both (a Remington 40-X in 22 L.R. with 5.5x16.5 scope and a Kimber Model 82-G in 22 L.R. with 6x24 scope). If you are inquiring about accuracy (you are definitely not making yourself clear on this point!) I have only tested hollow-point small game Hunting type ammunition in both of these Rifles. As I intended them mostly for Ground Squirrel Hunting and fun plinking. Anyway if the inquiry/posting is about accuracy I give the edge (slight!) to the Remington 40-X using the aforementioned hollow-point quality ammunition. If you are inquiring which to buy from the C.M.P. (again you are not clear in your posting!) then as an investment I suggest Remington 40-X if in similar conditions. Best of luck to you what ever you are seeking. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

Accuracy might be a toss up with what ever ammo LD plans to use, but the wide spread availability for stock options or triggers gives the Rem a a big edge IMO.

40-x. Sold one very foolishly. Had several 82G’s early on that were good shooters too but nothing like that 40-x.

The 82G's don't have the best reputation for accuracy. The couple I owned shot "o.k.", but not up with any of the 40x's I've owned.

I asked this because I recently come across another actual 40x more of the Remington 722 style made September of '56.. thing shoots very well. There's pictures of some of the targets in a different thread here... But I already had for quite some time what is considered a 40XB which is more styled after the 700 but with a much heavier barrel. A full length rail and an ADL type trigger guard.. which I've chopped it up and use the action and part of the bolt on all other custom parts so there's no real comparison.. but as well as the old original shot I was just wondering if the Kimber shot just as good on the norm. After reading replies here and doing a little internet search I don't believe they do.. on the average.. but if I can find one the right money might have to have one of them too..

By all means buy one if it's at a good price. I had to keep one just because I was collecting U.S. military training rifles. You probably won't get 40X accuracy, but they're neat guns regardless. Here's one of each model I'd gathered up. I left out the duplicates. The Kimber is at the bottom. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/bHb1Q3T.jpg)

Thanks, I looked on their site and seen mostly Savage rifles. Not in a hurry . I have seen them at gun shows in the past. Problem is California has poor shows now.
