It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Everything I’ve read about those has been very positive. I suspect that the design doesn’t lend itself to a safety, thankfully. Never saw one in person, but I have seen a few Italian ones, some of which had a fake case-hardened finish painted on; very tacky!
If resources and opportunity ever come together, I’d like one of the 24” .357s. With Lil Gun, you can get a pretty zippy load at low pressure. Second choice would be a .44 WCF.
Once upon a time, Dave Scovill wrote about the tang safeties on the Miroku rifles malfunctioning, which could get a feller kilt under some circumstances. He figured out a fix, but I’ve never seen any more about either the problem or his solution.
Congrats on a couple great scores!
What fresh Hell is this?

Grizz, I have the saddle ring carbine competition version of the Miroku 1873 and it’s an impressive little gun. At 50 yards it stacks 5 rounds, all touching, just about every time. With the original iron sights and my old, tired eyes that’s probably better than I should expect!

I'm often tempted to refinish my Uberti and get rid of the red stain. I've see a few redone and they look much better.

The Winchester's are indeed nice looking, it's just a shame they didn't stay closer to the original. One of my old '73 Winchester's has Uberti toggles in it, that's how close Uberti stayed to the original design. I'm often tempted to refinish my Uberti and get rid of the red stain. I've see a few redone and they look much better. Do it!!! I did and it made a dramatic difference. I also have the Uberti 73 in 45 Colt and I to will eventually strip the gloss finish off and refinish with oil. I must say, tha damn thing is accurate.

Nice rifle. The '73 design is about the fastest CAS lever. It's not the strongest, the '92 Winchester holds that distinction, with the Marlin somewhere in between with strength and speed. I do like the Uberti and they can be tweaked to near perfection, are solid guns at a reasonable price. This one, a Carbine, has aftermarket wood that I fitted, had action work by Pioneer in CA, short stroked with some other mods like full buckhorn and big bead front sight. That big bead centered in the full buckhorn worked well at CAS distances. Was fast and accurate. I put case colored side plates which sorta sets it off, matching the case colored lever. I had a good bud checker it in a classic pattern. It shows a few dings from use. Yeah, it was a using gun back when I was into CAS. I ordered a shotgun stock and forearm for my Uberti short rifle. I believe the shotgun stock will be better for me to shoot. Find myself having to adjust the crescent stock too often between shots.

Agree on shotgun style stock. And I like the thin rubber pad. Not period correct, but keeps the gun from slipping on the shoulder and when stood up.

I have a few, this one is a deluxe version in 38-40. I always liked the 38-40 best and finding a deluxe with a full magazine is not easy… ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/YSWc9FyH/IMG-7947.png)

Quit giving in inch by inch then looking back to lament the mile behind ya and wonder how to preserve those few feet left in front of ya. They'll never stop until they're stopped. That's a fact.
