Gentlemen, I have been snooping around the internet for the last month or so and decided to buy a T1X Hunter. I have an OCL Ti22 suppressor(thanks Don) and went with the 16" barrel version.

Yesterday afternoon the wind was pretty decent so after work I did an informal accuracy test at 50 yards. I dug around in my ammo stash and ended finding 8 different subsonic versions of ammunition. I shot a five shot group of each with a 'fouler'(off target) shot before each group. Not sure if the fouler shot made any difference but I figured it wouldn't hurt.

Here is the ammo.
(let me know if you can't tell what each brand is and I will list them)

I kept notes of each ammo and group size and can post groups pics if anyone is curious otherwise I will just list group size and pics of the top 3.

Here is how the ammo stacked up, best at top, worst at bottom.

I also shot an additional 5 shots of the top 3 performers which of course made for a 10 shot group.



#1. The SK Rifle Match was 9/16" for 10 shots.



#2. The CCI Suppressor Max was 7/8" for 10 shots.



#3.(tie) The Winchester Super Suppressed was 7/8" for 10 shots.





Everything actually shot okay except for the CCI Quiet-22 which was 2 1/4" for five shots at 50 yards. It was also by far the slowest at a listed 710fps.

I forgot the CCI Suppressor was virtually a tie with the Suppressor Max so we have a 3 way tie for 2nd place.

Decent weather today, so I scoped a T1x and sighted it in. It’s now ready to ship to my daughter. It’s a lefty T1x with the synthetic stock and 20in barrel. I put a Burris Droptine Rimfire 3-9x on it and shot CCI SV ammo. 5 shots in 0.4in at 50 yards centered in the bullseye. Another Tikka “easy button”. Our other two shot better with Norma TAC, but I think I’ll just let this one be. She’ll have easy access to this ammo where she lives.

Good thinking! Last thing you want to do is set someone up with something they’ll struggle to feed.

I have mine set up exactly the same way and it groups the same as yours using the CCI S/V. It is definitely an "easy button" rifle/scope/ammo combination.

Sam - pick up a box of CCI S/V you will likely be surprised at how well it groups, it is a "best bang for the buck" ammo in my Tikka.

Drover, this morning before chores I dug around in another stash of 22 ammo I bought a LONG time ago and found two entire bricks of CCI Standard Velocity 40 grain lead round nose @ 1070fps.

So being it is an absolutely beautiful day here with literally zero wind I shot some groups at 100 yards. The CCI S/V went around 1.25-1.5" for 5 shot groups. I would get 4 at an inch and then a flyer.

I also retested the SK Rifle Match and CCI Suppressor 45 grain HP's. Again I would get 3-4 pretty close with a flyer(or two) that would open up the groups to 1.125-1.5". Nothing really consistent until I shot the last group of the day. The little Tikka stuck 9 shots of the CCI Suppressor into about a nice 1" group. I am thinking maybe a little luck but I'll take it!

I was aiming at the right angle intersection of the package tape that about 1.5" above the group. The CCI Suppressor shoots lower than the SK and CCI S/V and I didn't monkey with the scope in between groups...





This is the first time I have ever shot 22lr groups at 100 yards and I wasn't sure what to expect. I was hoping for more consistency but I guess there is hope/potential in this setup.

I also had a few beers and ordered some Eley Tenex last night so we'll see how that experiment goes. Regardless this is a fun way to get some low impact(quiet) shooting done!

I sure would think that 1 inch group at 100 would be awfully respectable!!

That was by far the best group.

Most 5 shot groups were closer to 1.5" than 1".

A few 5 shot groups were actually around 2".

Sam, did you condition the bore by firing some of the next type of ammo between groups?

Pappy, I did shoot 1 fouler shot when I did the 50 yard test last Friday. But I didn't do it today.


I've been wondering about that and also action screw torque. What do you guys think is a good starting point?

In my research I came up with 25-35 inch pounds. So of course I started at 35 in lbs....lol

Now is the golden age of ordering fancy 22lr ammo and it's delivered to your door. A temporary distraction from work....lol

I have a LGS that sells a variety of 22 RF from cheap, through all varieties of SK and upward. I do not compete and maybe "upward" matters but the SK stuff just works at $8 - $10 a box. A simply tweaked 10-22 of mine.

Five at fifty.

Never worried much about action screw torque, mainly since I started this nonsense before everyone began using torque drivers on their toothpaste tubes and ketchup lids. Tight is tight, aside from some quirky items like pre-64s etc. that prefer a certain sequence. Others place great store in it, so I can’t totally dismiss it.

OTOH, I believe that firing some rounds to dress the bore can be very helpful, depending on the lube on the bullets. More than once I’ve watched shots walk across the target after changing ammunition, eventually settling down. I like to shoot ten if convenient, and also sometimes run a snake through to clean out the old lube a bit before firing the conditioning rounds. Don’t know if that really helps. I’d definitely recommend firing a good many rounds of each before deciding anything. If the final selection is spendy, I also like to see if something else on hand that’s cheaper lands close to the same place for a practice load, preferably something that uses a similar lube.

Believe it or not I have never owned a 10/22 but that may change.



Pappy, thanks for the tips. As mentioned I am a 22lr paper punching rookie but find it quite relaxing.

I'm gonna try to season the bore before I get overly serious about 100 yard groups.

My T1X (Sparrow suppressor) shoots CCI 'Clean' Subsonic coated bullets extremely well. Worth a try if you find some at a local shop.

Don't waste your time with the standard carbine. Ruger has made well over 100 versions of the 10/22 over the years. Last time I counted there were 50+ versions currently on their website.

Several of the Sporter, competition and target versions are quite accurate and have stocks designed for adults. They are a bit harder to find but not much more expensive.

They aren't quite as accurate as my Tikka but much more so than any other 10/22's I've ever shot.

A 1" 100 yard group isn't terribly hard with a Tikka on a windless day. I often shoot at 200-250 yards with mine. On a good day I've put 5 shots under 2" at 200 yards. I shoot clay targets placed on the ground at about 250 yards. I don't get a hit every shot, but once I get the hold figured out, I'm about 5 out of 10.

My CSC, a very early one, is as accurate as my 457 MTR, at least with the ammo I tried. Nothing in the Tenex range, but the usual SK and Club types. That's one reason I converted the MTR into a Premium.

I went down the Tenex rabbit hole and ordered some last week. This afternoon after work I shot 3 different lot #'s. 5 shot groups at 100 yards in a weird, almost swirling at times, light 5-8mph wind.

The groups went 1.5", 1" and 1.25".

I then shot the 1" group lot # again and it made another 1" group. A 10 shot group followed and it was 1.5" with one flyer that opened it up some. I was pretty happy with the results.

I also shot the SK Match again and a 10 shot groups was right at 1.5" which I thought was pretty good. And I wasn't taking my time on any of the shots because I thought the wind was getting worse.


So far I am pretty pleased with this rifle.

Sammo - is this the rifle wearing the Sightron? If so, how do you like the scope?

Jeff, yep.


The scope is nice but it's the first of it's kind for me(dialing) so nothing to compare it against.


Suppressed 22lr is beyond fun.
