I'm moving from Wisconsin to Colorado later this year and have no idea what the laws are regarding gun purchases, shows, sales, carry, etc, Can some of you CO residents enlighten me?

Any gun sales to another party requires a FFL transfer. A lot of folks ignore that. I think there is clause about selling or giving to a blood relative.
Carrying concealed requires CCW permit. Colorado is Shall Issue state. OK concealed in your vehicle without a permit. Handguns may be fully loaded in your vehicle. Rifles and shotguns cannot have a round in the chamber, but magazine, OK.

CO is no longer CO. CO is now CA. Think about how absolutely stupid CA can get and you can bet CO is right there with it. The CO of my misbegotten cowboy youth is extinct and is never coming back. That is why my entire family (who have been there since the 1850s) have moved out.

Pretty true. I'd move in minute if I were not so old. Hard to find some pace that isn't too cold in the winter or too hot in the summer or is humid and filled with bugs.

This past year they added a three day wait period on any firearms sale.

My family originally settled in what became CO in the Wray area in the late 1850s. I was born in CO in 1963 which made me a 5th generation native. Nearly my entire family bailed out of CO when CA invaded it. That is how bad it has gotten in CO. Chased my entire family out. Good luck, you're gonna need it.

Now we are faced with a pending law that will stop all sales on semi auto handguns , anything with a detachable magazine.Will include rifles and shot guns, training and a FOID card like Illinois. It will be close if it is defeated. CPW will be stuck with funding it with hunter's dollars.

Colorado used to be primarily Republican. Then it started to shift. Colorado passed a law limiting magazines to 15 rounds. There were still enough Republicans voters to recall 2 politicians that pushed the magazine law.
There was a time that Colorado politics was balanced but that seems like another world from what we live in now. Then the Democrats obtained a supermajority.

Agree with all of the above. Blue and getting bluer. That said, most people dont read the laws themselves, and miss the fact that most of them, including the recent semi-auto ban, as well as the 3 day wait law last year, specifically exempt C&R and Antique guns. So, technically, an AR platform built and sold before 1975 is C&R and exempt from the law. Most gun stores either don't read the laws either, or are so scared of retaliation by the AG that they toe the party line and refuse to sell. Fortunately, the Colorado gun Collectors Association has read the law, and intends to follow it to the letter in their upcoming annual show in Greeley next month. No guns made after 1975 will be allowed in the show (and no black guns, ever, regardless of when made), and no 3 day waiting period will be required of any gun transaction in the show. We'll see how it turns out.

Colorado has passed a law now that FFL dealers,must also pay a $400 a year state fee. The detachable magazine semi law passed but it is so convoluted it is hard to understand. Now some things are banned period, some are grandfathered in. The Attorney General has final say and can write her own laws. As I understand it, CCW permits will now require the 5 year recertification which means all the classes and more money.The stupidest thing is CPW l administer all that. Initially it was to be in force in August but has changed I think.
