Offers a left handed rifle in .270 or 30-06. I find that to be interesting.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

Some rifle manufacturers no longer offer any rifle in 270 or 30-06. Both have fallen out of the top 10 in new rifle sales some years ago. Most everybody that wants one already has 1, or 3 and there are more than enough used rifles in circulation to meet demand. Guys buying new rifles are choosing other cartridges.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

I find it frustrating. The classic rifles that have some age in classic chamberings only go up in price, and down in value. Times are changing and we have zero control, so there’s no point in worry about it. We get more time to enjoy what we have.
The more I play with my new M77 LH 300 Win Mag the more I like it and the more value it has, but it will never be a $2,000 rifle any more than a new Ruger American will be a $1,000 rifle. Same situation with the 20 year old Jeep XJ with less than 70k miles for $20,000. Go for it. You’ll not get any competitive bids from me.
If you want to do some trading on a left hand Model 70 let me know. Thanks.

Ruger just did a batch of LH Hawkeyes in 30-06 a few months ago blued/wood, maybe that was the last hurrah?
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

While disappointed, I am not surprised. IF you look at all of the additional parts, pieces, boxes, packaging required to support Left Hand production. And Left Hand rifles will always be well under 10% of their sales, it is easy to see that coming as a cost cutting / efficiency move.

Picked up a stainless Ruger '06 to rebarrel to 9.3x62 awhile back. Wouldn't mind buying another one "just in case". I'll keep my eyes out on the used racks. A 25-06 or .270 would work as well.

That's Ruger.
They don't flood the market with all offerings 100% of the time.

That's Ruger.
They don't flood the market with all offerings 100% of the time. Someplace I read that they know what’s out there and don’t make more until those have moved. I picked up a like-new Hawkeye AW .270 last Fall, but am already trying to move it locally, because I already have a couple FNs that eat .277s and didn’t need another. Push comes to shove, while I really like the Hawkeyes, I like FNs more. In addition, the Ruger is more likely to sell in the current market than old boomer guns, despite their charms. Times really have changed in the gun world, and tastes.
What fresh Hell is this?

Trends come and go. Look at the .45-70, its been with us since 1873 but it’s popularity/sales have ebbed and flowed like everything else.
Cartridges like the .30-06 and .270 will be with us until kingdom come.
My advice, can’t find what you want? Build it.
It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

There is a reason that firearms manufacturers "collaborate" with ammunition manufacturers to bring out new cartridges. To sell new firearms. Make money... Is it fun to play with new toys? Definitely. But the fact remains, not a single animal was killed in 2024 that could not have been killed with chamberings available 50 years ago... <flame suit on>

Own LH Win Model 70 06,Rem custom model 700 LH 06 Mtn take off barrel, Ruger 77 MK 2 SS 06, The Rem 700 is the accuracy king.
The Ruger is my favorite just consistent with no fuss. The Winchester is nice but prefer the Ruger.

The Ruger is my favorite just consistent with no fuss. The Winchester is nice but prefer the Ruger. If I have to rate my top three picks for Alaska my choice would be: Ruger Win 70 is a very close 2nd. If they were less expensive I would most likely own more. Savage 110 - ugly and crude functioning but they work and are very accurate Kind of ironic. I own three Weatherby Mark V's. a 6.5/300, 300 Wby, and a 340 Wby. But I am unable to offer a valid opinion on them as none seen any field or range use yet. My first few hunting trips to Kodiak Island really soured me on the Remington 700. To many issues with the trigger icing up. Moisture would get inside the trigger and have no where to go due to the side plates on the trigger. Combine this with the fact the trigger was adjusted to close tolerances and it was an accident waiting to happen. Didn't happen all the time but happened enough to me, and my hunting partners that I swore off taking Rem 700 back to the islands hunting. Other than that they are a fine rifle for all other style of hunting. I carried a lefty 375 Rem 700 from the custom shop for 20 years when moose and caribou hunting and never had an issue with it other than it was lightweight and kicked like a mule.
