Does anyone know where I can find information on installing the Buehler /Timney safety on a Mauser. Specifically modifying the cocking piece…

Why would you modify the cocking piece? You may want to break the sharp edge of the bevel, on the leading edge, but that's about it. I have always limited any stock removal to the safety lever. Now, the exception to this would be on a rifle where striker travel has been reduced ("screwed up" is the technical term). Then one may have to cut the front of the cocking piece back. In this case, what the heck, it's already messed up. GD

Have you checked You tube?
I installed a Buehler safety on a Swede Mauser. It wasn't too hard, but must be done accurately

Because the original owner of Buehler said “never modify the safety lever”…..

Looking for the proper degrees of angle to cut the leading edge of the cocking piece.

I start with about 30 degrees and will increase slightly if needed. The main thing is to take off a little at a time and check fit and function.

Because the original owner of Buehler said “never modify the safety lever”….. I honestly can't even guess at how many of those I've used, but for the first 15 years or so of my gunsmithing career, turning Mausers into sporters was still a significant portion of the job. Certainly, more than a hundred. I never did more than to eliminate the sharp edges on the cocking piece, and never did more than the same to the safety lever. I like the safety and still use one from time to time. GD

If modifications are needed, I usually work on the least expensive piece.

A Mauser cocking piece is a whole lot less expensive than a Buehler type safety!

Cheaper is irrelevant in this case. Please note the last line of the factory instructions…
