Synthetic oil is bull schit Its benefits are often overstated, but there are a few important advantages. Cold start being one of the biggest. Conventional oils have improved a lot also, they aren’t all that far behind synthetics.

[quote=gunchamp]No longer than 4-5k. Anyone telling you otherwise doesnt know what the hell they are talking about. Oil breaks down, because dirty and loses its ability to protect. Change it often. There isnt a oil or car on the planet that should be going 10k-20k in between oil changes[/quote.......Really? Seems to me imo that you don't know what you are talking about.
Conventional non synthetic oils break down much faster than do 100% synthetic oils.
In fact, synthetic oils such as Amsoil Signature Series have been analyzed after 10K, 15K, 20K and even after 25K miles of use. After analysis of the elements within the oil, it was determined that the oil could have gone longer without being replaced while still maintaining lube qualities along with no oil breakdown issues.
Anyone who says that 100% synthetic oils should be changed at no more than 4K to 5K miles? it is they who don't know what they are talking about.

The EPA is behind all of the 10K-15K oil changes. There you go. What people aren’t aware of is auto manufacturers get emission and milage credits for longer service intervals. Everytime the EPA increases the credits, the manufacturers recommended service intervals often increase—arbitrarily. Take recommended service intervals with a grain of salt……

Synthetic oil is bull schit ......🤣🤣🤣.....If that's the case, then why do all American, Japanese, European and Korean auto makers reco synthetic oils from the factory? Same holds true with most motorcycle makers. Some reco synthetic blends.

I run mobil one full synthetic for 15,000 miles. Change the Mobil one filter at 7500 and top off.

My oil change intervals are what the manufacturer recommends. I don’t pretend to know more than they do.

Kyguy is right. Changing your oil at 10K intervals will get you out past the car manufacturer’s warranty. My favorite You Tube mechanic, The Car Care Nut agrees. But most of us want our engines to last 200k or more, and for that he recommends 5K oil change intervals.

The best way to determine any synthetic oil's longevity is to research the oil analysis reports of the oil after X amount miles.

Synthetic oil is bull schit Hardly. I have ran both in 1 truck in particular. Went from burning a quart every 2k to burning none by 3k at change time. Best thing to come down the pipe in the last 30 years.

I take a middle ground. Used to change the oil every 3,000 regularly. Then, when I got my 2004 in -04, that was my first truck with this extended service internal. Ran Mobil 1 in it and for a while, was still changing it every 3k. Service manager talked to me, said didn’t need to, the Mobil 1 was much better and lasted longer. The recommended interval of that truck was 6k. So, after talking with the service manager, I decided I would try the extended intervals. But I did a little something. When I hit 3k, I didn’t do a full oil change, but I would pull the oil filter and replace it with a new filter and top off the oil. What I can say is that when I traded it in in 2013, it had over 258k miles on it and did not use a noticeable amount of oil in the service interval. As for the truck I drive today, a 2013 Ford F250 with the 6.2 gas, I still run Mobil one and change the oil filter every 3k, and at 228k miles, it is in the same shape as my -04 when I traded it in. No noticeable oil burn or usage.

There isnt a oil or car on the planet that should be going 10k-20k in between oil changes. lol Many car manufacturers nowadays recommend 10,000-mile oil change intervals, especially when using synthetic oil. And look inside of those engines at 200k, maybe less when they go to hell. Funny how 25 years ago you never heard of all of these auto manufacturers having several engines that have quite a few issues. So much better engines these days.🤣🤣🤣

Oil changes triggered on fuel usage, hours, and or annually. Whichever comes first.

Best thing to come down the pipe in the last 30 years. I'm not a big fan of dicking around and spending time on changing oil. That said you still have to do it. Rotella T6 and T4 for the win. Prices have come down since covid.

Every 3.5K to 4.5K and I've used Shell Rotella or Pennzoil for 30+ years. I've never had an oil related problem. Works for me
